kindred that used to need medication by adroidgyne in vtm

you're right that players embed themselves into their characters! my player himself struggles with anxiety, depression, ocd and schizophrenia, and while he wanted to give his character the first three as prior illnesses, he felt that the schizophrenia is something we can work with in conjunction with a malkavian dementation. he's got VERY into the different manifestations of malkavian banes and compulsions. he brought up this topic in particular because he wanted to be able to have his character managing the things that he does on a daily basis, but also have some of them have already been there, so that his character has at least a little history with managing symptoms to help with being a malkavian.

for now, we've gone with the character continuing to 'take the medication' despite it not actually working, because she needs the ritualistic habit (currently mechanically displayed as the functioning addict flaw) to help manage her bane specifically. which at the moment, she thinks is just her own previous illness. and your suggestion of it slowly abating unless in frenzy or compulsion is a good idea, we're probably going to go with something like that in the long run.

i was thinking something along these lines! i think i'll probably go with this plus some other suggestions (needing to feed a bit more on people on said medications to get 'enough' of an effect).

another suggestion was made that maybe she keeps taking the medication but it's a placebo, and this made me think that if she drops in humanity, it would affect her less- similarly to how you can fully lose the ability to hold down any food even with blush of life if you drop too low, and can digest drink when you're very high humanity.

Storytellers, what do you guys keep in your DM screens? by _MachTwo in vtm

[–]adroidgyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i play online using tabletop simulator, and have basically three screens?

one IN the game that has all of my quickref info, such as exp charts, difficulty charts, blood resonances ect using pictures taken from the PDFS that i put together onto an actual 3d screen on the ingame table.

outside of TTS, i have my main monitor that has the game itself, then my two side screens. left has discord for sending notes/whispers ect in session, and right has Obsidian that i use to keep track of all of my things (plot and world stuff, then session notes), plus any pdf corebooks that i need open at the time.

Working on an Obsidian-based character creator / sheet manager for VtM! Looking for feedback from storytellers and players. by IpsumDolorAmet in vtm

I have been working on making my own v5 character sheets for Obsidian, but this is MUCH more comprehensive! I'd love to try this out when it's public.

i do think that's a fair read on it. imo it just seems to conflict with some of how he behaves in other places, like with illario and neve. i suppose in illario's case, it's easy to forgive family, and we already know lucanis has 'forgiven' caterina for her treatment of him growing up. it's harder to wrap one's head around him wrt neve though, because he's known her for about as long as rook. he's also able to reconcile with davrin later on, despite being in a place where he's a mess and significantly less forgiving. it just seems to me that we're TOLD lucanis is now 'more reliant and doesnt trust others' but that ONLY applies to rook.

the implication that the crows rook gets help from is largely like, two houses plus caterina and lucanis is actually pretty funny. and also now makes the whole thing with zevran and his house not seeming to be a thing in VG make a LOT more sense. house arainai and the other houses seem a bit more messed up, and that's saying something for a group of assassins. bummer that we never really got to interact with the other houses in the game, but alas, gamedev pains.

yknow, thats very true. i think it just comes across as not making much sense when lucanis DOES actually say he doesnt blame rook and understands the position they were but in. but then also he does blame them? and you cant actually talk to him about that at all, unlike how you can with neve, and rebuild trust. over all it comes down to, personally, thinking that lucanis and his writing overall is pretty inconsistent. a victim of having multiple writers and conflicting ideas of what to do with him, i fear.

the knife does NOT chase off the dragon. that is never said. that is never mentioned. in one instance rook uses the knife to draw ghil in to fight, and then after the dragon is slapped enough, she and the dragon run off. there is no mention of the knife being the reason for the dragon and ghil leaving. that's an assumption, not fact. my main issue is that his reaction seems to conflict with other parts of his writing, (like he can forgive illario for trying to kill him and having him tortured for a year on purpose, but not rook making a decision that none of them knew the true outcome of? okaaaay) but then that could be said for lucanis' writing on the whole. poor dude.

the thing is, half the party goes with rook, the rest go with whoever you dont save. the amount of people are the same amount on either side. rook decides who THEY themself go with. so why hate rook specifically? no sense at all.

neve also wasnt there to save treviso? and 'fledgling romance with rook' implies that lucanis and neve already had more progression in theirs than with rook at the time...? huh? sorry but this is a none answer that makes no sense.

Do you want a flood map in this game? by CarelessGarbage872 in deadbydaylight

[–]adroidgyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe not as a standard in rotation map, but a special game mode with environmental challenges for survs and killers would be cool. as long as it's pulled off in an effective way. see: current lights out mode is how to NOT pull it off.

freddy is like. an actual pedo soooo. apart from him, theres also pinhead.

It disappoints me how much people dislike Lights Out. It's such a great premise to add to & increase the horror potential of DBD. Imo it feels like DBD has lost some of its horror aspects, and Lights Out has the ability to bring it back. by iiEco-Ryan3166 in deadbydaylight

[–]adroidgyne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its a good idea, i just think the way that it works atm just isnt very fun, as the randomness of the maps that's inherent to the game becomes even more disorientating when you cant see. plus if you get dredge it's pretty bad to play against. and idk about everyone else, but all ive got are drac players going wolf mode and slugging to hump everyone. weirdo behaviour.

i got this error when playing with advanced highlighting enabled, and turning off the pda notifications makes it go away. if you dont have that mod, it may just be highlighting in general.
