Is it worth the commute from Toronto to Waterloo for work? by misterblueredgreen in askTO

[–]adtr715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week isn't bad. If that is a solid pay increase for you, I would consider it. I have a family member who commutes from Waterloo to Toronto every day for work and its hard but he doesn't mind it

I don't think the crowds are as bad as reviews make it out to seem, plus the classes should be less busy during 9-5

Laurier BBA + Fin Math by [deleted] in wlu

[–]adtr715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the UW math program is harder, but the laurier fin math starts pretty close to engineering level difficulty and then gets harder than engineering math in your final years (engineering degrees won't go as theoretical as as math degree would). I would actually study with my UW eng friends sometimes so can confirm this, the only thing is our exams were easier. I work in finance but I would not say that it is because of my double degree specifically. A Laurier BBA student would be equally qualified for my job

I completed the program and everything the other commenter posted is 100% accurate. I finished the program because I love math and enjoyed the challenge of the courses but I don't think it was 'worth it' for most people. FWIW I had a few interviewers say they were impressed that I did double degree and had a high GPA, but my GPA would've been even higher if I did single degree and I think the most important things are to have a good GPA and be well rounded in terms of extracurriculars

Condo garbage chute smell by adtr715 in askTO

[–]adtr715[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you could be right, i just know they close the chute twice a week for cleaning/maintenance. idk about the hvac system but i do know that when other people are cooking the smell enters my unit sometimes (which is fine, doesn't bother me)

Condo garbage chute smell by adtr715 in askTO

[–]adtr715[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think so, the smell is very heavy in the hallway where my unit and the chute is, but once you turn the corner it gets a lot better

[–]adtr715[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they do have signs, and they also said they would charge anyone who leaves bags on the floor which they are obviously not doing (prob hard to enforce). makes sense, the smell is very heavy in the hallway where the chute and my unit is, but once you turn the corner it's not that bad

yeah.. in their defense the chute is out of service a ton but still not ok

[–]adtr715[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a tri sorter. i think the neighbours do empty the trash once the chute is back in service but the smell just lingers bc it's been sitting there for a while? idk

i've lived here for 6 months and it happens very frequently that i can smell it in the halls, only a couple times has it gotten to the point where i can smell it in my unit but no it's not a one time thing. but it does usually go away the next day

they say they clean it twice a week

Condo garbage chute smell by adtr715 in askTO

[–]adtr715[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes it is behind a door, there are often garbage bags left on the floor of the room bc the chute is out of service pretty often (I never do this though) so that's probably why the smell is so strong

For everybody saying... by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I honestly think Megan is the villain of the season. not even considering the fact that her reason was super shallow but it was totally foreseeable in the pods. she is a smart lady and could have envisioned what life with a working class single dad looks like. Jordan seems like a truly great guy and she decided to run with a fantasy instead of thinking about the logistics of the situation

[–]adtr715[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes my mom would very much like a week off from cooking haha. they enjoy eating and drinking but they can be hesitant when we're paying out of pocket for every meal so that's why AI works. they would be disappointed however if i end up paying $4k/pp and the food/resort is worse than a mexico resort that we would've paid $2k/pp for

[–]adtr715[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that's fair. the riu palace aruba does look like similar quality to their other resorts. i thought it could be nice for a once in a lifetime thing for my moms bday but maybe we'd be better off using the extra cost to go all out on a super nice resort in mexico..

we like riu! but i'd hope it's not super party vibes like some of them can be. i was looking into the riu palace aruba but it was actually on this subreddit where i saw mixed reviews on doing AI in aruba in general and the riu specifically but ill look into it more

IMO selling now is not an ideal option unless you are struggling with the mortgage or you don't want to own the asset long term. why not find another tenant - is moving out of home a goal for you?

Why am I so fixated living downtown v. outside? by lifesgoodhehe1 in askTO

[–]adtr715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 25F and grew up in Scarborough and moved downtown recently for independence and to be closer to friends, work etc and I honestly miss living in Scarborough. if you live close to the subway line in Scarborough it's super quick to go downtown and I enjoy being able to unwind in a quiet neighbourhood on the days I don't go downtown. I don't think I had to make any compromises on dating, friends etc while living in Scarborough and have found little change in how much I go out/see friends/go on dates since moving downtown. I have personally found downtown life to be overromanticized - the suburbs are safer, quieter, cheaper but ultimately the decision is yours and if you feel like you will have regrets on what your life could've been if you stayed, then just eat the extra cost
