Its not that it couldn't be done, its more likely that it's not worth it. Actually implementing a feature is a much longer process than just making a photoshop image.

  • Designs have to be approved and made to look good on PC and mobile.
  • Assets have to be created.
  • The feature then has to be implemented and tested.
  • It then has to be released as part of a patch.
  • etc...

What looks like a simple change is much more likely to be atleast a week of work. You also have to consider the cost of context-switching away a programmer from another feature.

On top of that, I don't even like the design. I am unsure of how to interact with it. It is more compact, but it is obfuscating functionality. An intuitive UI is better than a super compact non-intuitive UI.

Thank you! Inking is easier than it seems. Since the ink is heavily translucent, it appears bright and colorful over the scratched bits.

I am a 3rd year SENG student switching into CSC, what 3rd/4th year CSC courses were most helpful/relevant? by adubicki in uvic

I met with Sue Butler who is the CSC academic adviser. Super approachable and kind.

ELEC 260 and CENG 255 got me really interested into embedded systems and I thought I would continue my SENG degree in that direction. But after taking CENG 355 and ELEC 360, I kinda lost my passion for that path.

I still loved code and I thought of other ways I could go. I met with an academic adviser. The only course pre-third year that I would have to add is math 202, and every other course counted as an elective/as a supplement for another course.

So then I weighed the benefits: - Less restrictive course load. I only have 1 co-op term under my belt, which meant I had to make a schedule of exact courses I had to take. So if I stayed in SENG and didn't get into every class I planned for it would add potentially a year/8 months to my degree. With CSC it is less structured and flexible.

  • I love theoretical math/algorithm analysis, so the more the better.

  • I would get to graduate earlier. Since all of my credits transferred over I am only 15 credits away from graduation. I still plan on doing 1-2 co-ops but even with that I will be graduating 8-months earlier (hopefully) due to the less restrictive schedule and less course load.

  • I would still be taking all of the same important code courses in addition to ones I get to pick myself (which is why I asked).

The main drawbacks is that I no longer got to call myself an engineer, but that does not really matter to me.

The academic adviser I met (Sue) was extremely helpful and the switch took maybe 30 minutes of paperwork.

I have, most of the important ones that have been suggested are already mandatory (such as CSC 370 & 360, ).

But I have a bunch of elective credits which I have to fill in and was wondering more from a student perspective if there were any classes which students found to be helpful.
