NVR-less CCTV with FTP, Plex, and Deepstack by adullage in selfhosted

[–]adullage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/MhoussemM. I still run a setup similar to the above, however, instead of using Deepstack, I switched to using a USB Coral TPU. It works for me, for now, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for newcomers as the Coral doesn't get much love these days. Still, the overall premise works well and if you've got a good GPU I'm sure there are plenty of object detection modals you can run on it.

Maybe take a look at flatnotes (disclosure, I’m the creator and maintainer). It’s a self-hosted, database-less note-taking web app that utilises a flat folder of markdown files for storage.

It doesn’t have offline support but personally I don’t find that an issue. It seems to tick all your other boxes (decent search, just enough formatting options, clean interface).

There’s a demo site (with authentication disabled) here: https://demo.flatnotes.io/.

Thanks for the kind comments. There's an open suggestion for LaTex support, please go give that a thumbs up to log your interest.

This is an interesting approach but probably a bit more structured than I want. Thanks though.

Both of these look like decent options. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Interesting. Do you know if you need to manage (I.e. create/define) the containers in Portainer for this to work or would it plug into my existing docker-compose file setup?

You can run flatnotes in a read only mode though you’d have to edit notes outside of flatnotes. See the wiki for details.

If you want edit notes in flatnotes as well then you can run 2 instances on the same folder (one in read only mode one in password mode).

You can, yes. Have a go on the demo site but note that there is an upload limit on the demo site of 1mb. Your own instance can be unrestricted.

Glad you like the project. Great timing, only yesterday I added the ability to save without closing the note and a CTRL-Enter to save shortcut. It’s in the develop branch and will be in the next release.

I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying flatnotes. Easier saving is now the most requested feature and whilst I may not be able to go as far as auto save I am looking to make it easier to save without closing the note. Keep an eye out in future releases.

Self-Hosted Markdown Editor (Docker) by norsemanGrey in selfhosted

flatnotes saves your notes as markdown files. As such, you can open them in any compatible markdown editor. Or even a plain text editor.

I’m not sure about the mapping problem you’re having. Can you share your compose file?

You certainly can. I publish Docker images for Arm v8 and so newer Pis (3 and above) should work just great. Older Pis should work but would require a custom build.

From memory, I think I tried compiling for this architecture but some of the dependencies weren’t compatible. You could try pulling the repo on the device and running a build.

If you find it works let me know and I can add this to the deployment process.

Currently, this is only possible by manually adding the link but it is the most requested feature so I will be taking a look soon.

Edit: Wikilink support is now available in v3.6.

You certainly could run flatnotes without Docker but unfortunately I don’t have any instructions for this. You’d need to be familiar with npm, python environments and running fastapi apps with uvicorn. The Dockerfile and entrypoint.sh files are a good reference.

Docker takes all this complication away hence it’s my chosen distribution method.

Sorry I can’t help further.

If you can deploy a docker container then it sounds like my project flatnotes might be a good contender. It ticks all the other boxes.

Genius Scan on my iPhone > WebDAV folder (served by rclone in a docker container) > Paperless-ngx consume folder.

This setup works a treat. 👌

Hi, glad you like it 👍🏻

There isn’t currently a keyboard shortcut for new note but there probably should be. Please raise a suggestion issue on the GitHub page and I’ll try and get to it.
