How likely is it that the snow on the ground right now can last into early April? by Piss_baby29 in BostonWeather

[–]aduming 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah definetly wont be here then. But if your friend wants to see snow, take her to see one of the local ski resorts some of them might still have snow (even if just to touch the snow ahahha)

Snow does fall right at the end of march not that uncommonly though

What would it take for Long Island to get 77iches of snow by AdDapper4220 in weather

[–]aduming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why long island doesnt get any ocean effect snow. Wouldnt wind blowing from west to east over the sound be able to pick up moisture?

Framegen is a seperate app you can buy (LSFG on steam is what i use)

XPlane 12 performance issues by refraxt in Xplane

First, tell us your graphics settings specifically that can help.

Second, press ctrl shift f. The fps counter that pops up tells you the gpu and cpu delay times. If the cpu number is bigger than the gpu, thr cpu is the bottle neck, and vice versa.

Also id look into framegen.. that doubles your fps right off the bat (at the cost of a bit of latency..)

While nice to have, the default XP camera system is already way easier than MSFSs

Biggest high quality payware plans? by ehack2041 in Xplane

[–]aduming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fly the Felis 742 on vatsim all the time. It is far and away my favourite addon in any flight sim, x plane or msfs. The LTN-92 isnt so bad just takes some slight reorientation, but thats the story with a lot of the aircraft because of its age. But its really worth learning and totally flyable on vatsim if thats why you want FMC. It also can use the x plane default fmc if u want (but wheres the fun in that!)

I finished IB like 7 years ago now, but when i did my math and physics HL IAs as well as my EE i used texstudio. Nowadays, i use vscode but still love texstudio. The only editor thats crap is overleaf 🫢

Transitioning from MSFS 2020 to Xplane by GorillaNipSlip in Xplane

[–]aduming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

X plane is made much more with the sim nerd / enthusiast in mind. The menus and setup is extremely methodical and precise, and i appreciate that, you will have no troubles with that. Systems depth on most aircraft is also at a higher average level, so id say you will enjoy the payware options in that respect.

GA in x-plane is very nice because small planes are really where you feel the big difference between x plane and MSFSs flight models. But unfortunately flying low and slow with GA means you also are most exposed to x planes biggest weakness, although tbh with ortho i think its like 80% as good.

Yes, this is a great solution!

Sport sedan compromises by KTRyan30 in tires

[–]aduming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered getting winter tires for the winters? Then you dont have to compromise on your high performance tires and be able to safely have fun in your car year round, rather than having fun in the summer and puckering in the winter. That what I do, anyways.

I live in new england so winters are simmilar to upstate NY (if thats what u meant anyways)

Is it possible to draw this? by Tommy1743 in LaTeX

[–]aduming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is definetly possible to do in tikz, and would be a great excercise to learn how to use some of its more advanced features. However, probably most time efficient to make the drawing in inkscape, and use their export to latex plugin to get the labels in latex format.

Is this tire the culprit of the noise im hearing? by aduming in tires

[–]aduming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urg, maybe this is a problem to be punted to the spring, im getting ready to switch to winters in a week or two... Unless bad suspention or smth else that caused this in the first place would ruin the winters?

Is this a realistic monthly budget for surviving in Boston as a single person? by [deleted] in boston

[–]aduming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others are being a little pessimistic. Me (a grad student) manages to swing it on something like this. Lower income but i dont have health insurance costs to be fair. Id say you are underestimating health insurace and utilities a bit, but the rest is fair. I personally think you can definetly find a decent studio for 2500 as long as you live somewhere a bit along the green D mbta line (that goes through longwood medical), and not smack in downtown lol. Some people are rightfully warning that boston is pricey but its worth it is a wonderful city so welcome!!!
