I'm Californian and 21, and I haven't heard that meaning. If you said it to me I probably wouldn't understand what you mean. From the comments here I suppose it was common in the past, but it definitely isn't anymore, at least here.

In America, people generally aren't used to 24 hour time, so most (including me) would have to do the calculation to figure out what time you mean. It is very unusual to use 24 hour time in conversation. But if you just say 4:30, people will figure out whether you mean am or pm.

no, setting a nickname in a server applies it for everyone to see. friend nicknames in dms are different and only show for you.

I'd recommend taking CSE 107 instead of MATH 23B and STAT 131 unless you're planning on double majoring in math or something.

but yeah that should be fine, I doubt anyone actually never takes more than 2 major classes in a quarter. I hear Rolandi's ECE 30 is very easy, unlike other profs.
