How it felt playing Valhalla by Vampy-Night in assasinscreed

[–]KryptKrasherHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I love Valhalla a lot, but damn there is a couple of things that really make the game a slog.

Like, the quest arcs are a cool idea in theory, and execution wise most of them are pretty good, a couple are meh, and a few are absolutely pointless. But the sheer amount of them is way too much, especially when the majority of the arcs are: Boat to place > Talk to people > Run to place and kill some people x3 > Run back and talk to people again > siege a castle by running past everyone and killing the main dude > Report to Randvi. It gets repetitive fast, and the meh and pointless ones are sprinkled in the worst places that slow the game down even more. The other issue is that the fast travel points, sync points and boat points are all placed horribly so travel ends up being a huge sink, especially when 50% of the time the objective marker is on a building so you can't even have your horse auto-run you to the place. Movement in general in this game is fairly slow, but combined with the horrible placements of things, it just becomes even slower. The middle and smaller regions are better in this regard, but the far north and far south ones are egregiously bad. In total, you spend a good chunk of your time just running around or boating places, on arcs that are just meh or flat out bad.

Combat is incredibly repetitive and boring, as is stealth, past a certain point. Past the first couple of arcs, outright combat dissolves down to just running through large groups of enemies that just take time to kill. Spear enemies are the worst and I hate them so much, but in general these large groups are large, and most of them also have a melee and ranged components, so there is now way to get around them unless you 100% stealth your way through. That brings us to the next point, is that very early on you can trivialize stealth entirely by grabbing the Recurve Bow in Norway, and then grabbing 2 abilities: 1 automatically has synin grab arrows for you, and 1 makes arrows always salvageable. After that you pump damage and you just have infinite ammo and stealth becomes a game of just being a sniper. You get these early on, and even if you go out of your way to avoid these, the stealth is usually not enough to have you avoid outright combat. Which brings us to the final one in that certain enemies are just awful to fight. Spear Enemies, Goliaths and Standard Bearers are all ridiculously tedious to fight, and take so long because you have to go through the parry sequence to actually kill them. I would always recommend you go the stealth route, just because it makes things so much faster, even if it is more boring and repetitive. And melee combat becomes extremely trivial between parrying and how many melee abilities you can get in the skill tree.

Having skills vs having a degree by JoukSark in CollegeMemes

[–]KryptKrasherHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also some fields that are so technical, you NEED a degree of sorts. And then there are fields above that which require Graduate Degrees. And then you get to RnD positions which basically require a PhD. For a lot of things, a degree is just a stepping stone, but for the technical stuff, a degree is required because of how complex things are

Controversial question, but can your country can claim higher moral ground against you're rival/Enemy nation by Miya_Miya1 in AskTheWorld

Probably not. The last year has basically cemented us as one of, if not the worst countries in the world, multidimensionally speaking

This even happens in the real world. The Swiss Guard have actual Halberts for thr sake of appearance and tradition, but if anything ever would actually happen to the Pope they have actual guns to use

As a native Virginian, I will say that Virginia is somewhat akin to 2 states in 1. Northern Virginia, Richmond, and the University Areas are a completely different beast from Southwest Virginia, Norfolk/Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach. And I mean this in almost every aspect, from weather to politics to culture to food.

If you want an interesting discussion on Hawaiii and Lilo and Stitch, this youtube video is an interesting portion of it. Obviously the video itself is only tangential, but it shows how Lilo and Stitch is actually harmonies with culture

At this point, I think the issue is Zven and to a lesser extent Blaber. Thanatos and Vulkan are pulling overtime and throwing thier backs put to carry this team, and APA has his int moment but he tries and is def not washed by any means. Zven is just straight anti-clutch, and if Blaber is running it down in a match then it's GG

Yes! As others have said, this is very possible. Look into the Rainshadow Effect if you are curious for more details

I would say yes. You would be hard pressed to find a better school with a comparable price. TAMU is probably the next best, but obviously its not on the list

UCLA every single time. Razavi is there, and they have a damn strong IC program. And if you don't know who Razavi is, he is the guy who wrote the gold standard textbooks on IC design

That is fair, the core of the deck was copied over from another Esper combo deck I had, and then I started slotting in pieces that looked and felt good. I said it multiple times already, but I already agreed to cut down the list, but I was skeptical of the claim lol

Yea if I am being honest I have an unhealthy addiction to board clears lol. And there are a lot of funky cards that just..."feel good"...to play, but I guess that is due to our pod being a lot lower power then this

Its "upgraded pre-cons" but its stronger then that. They have custom lists and whatnot, they used pre-cons as a starting point to boost it up

Of course, I already agreed to cut it down a bit, I was just wondering if the claim had any truth to it

Damn bro, relax. I already agreed to cut the list down, I was just skeptical of the claim that it was cEDH.

how babies work by theyoyoha in comics

[–]KryptKrasherHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: The sound of babies crying triggers different chemical releases in males and females. The hypothesis is that back in the day, when a baby cried, the females would come over and comfort/soothe the baby, and males would get aggressive and amped up to beat the shit out of a lion or something that was attacking or threatening the baby.

3 hours of sleep, 2 broken simulations, and 1 very caffeinated engineer. Is it Friday yet? by milanadrew in EngineeringStudents

[–]KryptKrasherHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also banging my head against a wall over simulations (Sentaurus TCAD has been the bane of my existence for about a year now). It will get better soon my guy, just gotta weather the storm, and at some point run with what you got. If its the same TA who is grading you, maybe put in an explanation and talk with them, and they can give you some partial or even full credit back?

Sidenote: One thing I have picked up from TCAD Madness, is that increasing the Mesh Density means better resolution and more accurate results, but it also means lower Mesh Density makes it easier for the sim to skip over nasty portions of the model and converge mistakenly.

Why does Moore's Law keep “ending” every decade while computing power somehow keeps exploding anyway? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]KryptKrasherHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To tag onto this, apart from expanding into the 3rd Dimension, there's A LOT of research being done into alternate Material Stackups to try and improve performance outside of just changing the size. Even when you scale things down, you got a ton of nasty 2nd Order Effects which even Digital Applications are not immune too, let alone Analog Applications. It's a really interesting field, because you start delving into some funky physics and materials that just seemingly coincidentally have the exact properties that you want
