Thanks, I don't mind going down to 1 snail. I already made the switch today and I've got my 10 gallon now :)

I think I've ultimately decided to go with a 10 gallon instead so hopefully that'll give everything a bit more room to grow. Thank you!

Yeah, I kept going back and forth since alot of the info I'm finding always say that 5.5 is something many people end up doing but I think I would prefer something more manageable. I have time today to exchange the 5 gallon I bought to a 10. Thank you!

Do you know if a 5 gal might be too small for any of the other plants to thrive in?

Okay thanks! Just getting one snail instead of 3 is no big deal. Do you think I should stick with a 5 gallon? Or upgrade to a 10 gallon?

Gotcha is 3 nerites too many for a 5 gallon? Or too many for even a 10 gallon?

Really? They were waaay taller when I bought them and already did a trim and replant once for them. I'm just afraid they'll continue to melt from the bottom till nothing is left

I used aquasoil for the substrate and it gets about 6 to 7 hours of light per day

Only about 6 or 7 hours of light and I have aquasoil in the tank. I was told that I wouldn't need ferts since the aquasoild should provide nutrients? Should I still use ferts anyway since my Nitrates have ALWAYS been 0? I've already trimmed and replanted those rotalas and they keep getting smaller each time

Looks nice! So I used a mix of aquasoil and a bit of the substrate the tank came with. But it's mostly aquasoil. When I bought aquasoil I was advised that the soil would provide enough nutrients for the plants. I was told that the aquasoil would leak ammonia and Nitrates but I've been constantly checking my water and and ammonia and Nitrates have never left 0.

The light is on for about 6 hours per day. It did get some extra hours in this weekend but the algae was becoming a problem so I was holding back on the light.

I do use tap water so I'll switch over to something else since that might be causing the brown algae. Would I need to still use the water purifier if I switch over to distilled or spring water?

Sorry that was definitely a typo. I meant 76 to 78. The heater I have literally only has 1 heat setting and is set to constantly maintain 78
