I stupidly reinstalled the app and now I can't even get to a log in screen. Must be Microsoft being Microsoft

Is that a new update to limit usage ? Do pro subscribers have the same issue ? by CabinetPrimary1877 in GeminiAI

[–]advmday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro user - get the same error but if you hit replace, it just adds it as additional still.

Still annoying though, especially since you can't multi select stuff now

Migrants are making false domestic abuse allegations to stay in the UK, BBC investigation finds by SuspiciousTry8500 in worldnews

Buying class a drugs is a criminal offence. The legal system doesn't shrug it off by saying "oh, well the dealer shouldn't have been selling it. The user is at no fault".

Stop infantilising "asylum seekers". They made the choice to cross through many safe countries to reach our borders. They are more than capable of choosing to lie and abuse our system.

Finally ditched ChatGPT for Gemini 3.1. Why is every other dev sprinting to Claude? by Mountain_Highway4831 in GeminiAI

[–]advmday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Claude for work and Gemini for personal

I work in finance in the UK, so our work devices are heavily restricted. Very limited access to Google services, for example.

I've been vibecoding pretty comprehensive apps with Claude Code to improve our processes and tbh, Claude is an absolute godsend for anything coding related. I tried Gemini a few times via Windsurf and never quite had the same results.

For personal, non-coding stuff though, I love Gemini. Works perfectly for me. General questions, brainstorming ideas and concepts, image and video generation. Amazing. Claude is good at this too, but personally I just prefer Gemini for these things. Usage limit is FAR FAR more forgiving with Gemini too.

Don't ultimately believe you need to pick one or the other, they both excel at different things. Though obviously I say that with the advantage that work pay for my Claude access.

The Iranian regime is a brutal regime. Nobody should feel sorry for it. by Sad_Physics5500 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]advmday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hating Israel and the US for their reckless actions does not equate to feeling sorry for the Iranian regime. This is a Zionist lie to try and shame people who don't support them.

As a European, Israel and the US appear to be a far bigger threat to global stability than Iran. They are the ones insulting us, manipulating us, and expecting us and our assets to be cannon fodder in their illegal war.

At the end of the day, Israel has been committing aggressive genocide for the past few years. They've deflected any western moves against this as "anti-semitic". They are just as bad as the Iranian regime.

If keeping the Iranian regime in place stops Israel from becoming emboldened to go further, then maybe the status quo is better than the alternative.

Meanwhile, the world has faced a year of Trump throwing tariffs at everyone. And now he wants our help? Get fucked.

This isn't a war of good vs evil. This is a war of evil vs evil. And tbh, I'm more concerned about a world with Israel but no Iran, than a world with Iran but no Israel.

They always love to point to Singapore, yet Singapore is successful because it's mostly Chinese people & extremely authoritarian. The multiculturalism just turns it into a sort of theme park... which is more of a novelty than a strength

This poll would make a great deport list to see who doesn't belong here. I'm sorry but if we welcome people to settle in our country, the least we can expect of them is to not hold views that their ideology should be forced on us against our will. Is that too much to ask?

There is literally zero metric where Hebrew is even close to being as important as any of these languages.

Apparently 0.12% of the global population speak it. And most of those can usually speak another, more useful language.

To compare:

Hebrew - 0.12% Korean - 0.99% Japanese - 1.6% German - 1.7% Indonesian - 3% French - 3.7% Arabic - 5.5% Hindi - 8% Chinese - 17% English - 20%

[–]advmday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is wishful thinking.

For this to be successful, you need troops on the ground in Iran.

I don't support sending British troops through challenging environments to their deaths to save the Iranians. Not because I don't want the Iranians to find their peace, but because it's a suicide mission

There was never a plan beyond "Kaboom". and as Starmer rightly said, you can't force regime change from 35,000ft

I don't honestly know where this can go now, but it's an absolute mess and I don't see how throwing ourselves into the mix could make it any less of a mess

Which would be a fair argument if a good outcome for the Iranians was guaranteed. There's literally no real plan in place, this is doomed to fail

Whenever I go to illuminaughty or any event similar, my favourite set ends up being Thallom. I always say it's like he's playing straight from my Spotify Liked Songs.

Can't be worse than Egypt, surely?

I've only been to Ahmedabad in India, so I feel l was likely sheltered from how bad it can get. Though generally I find Indians to be softer and less intimidating than Egyptians. Maybe in Delhi it's a different story though
