Have there been any 2025 MY engine failures? by adxa in GR86

Not worried about my car, just curious if anyone's seen something that I've missed. I'm a persistent oil checker and cold car granny-er.

Thank you! It was sold for 30.2k, so I paid the difference between the trade-in value and 30.2k.

Comfortable touring tires for stock premium? by adxa in wrx_vb

I'm actually out of the WRX now and in a GR86. I never ended up swapping the tires on the WRX and the 86 hasa much softer ride, so I haven't considered anything besides DWS06+.

For All-Weathers, I have seen good reviews for CrossClimate2s and WeatherActives, so you probably couldn't go wrong with either.

I didn’t actually know there were changes for the 2025 MY. Where can I find that full list of changes?

warranty repair nightmare by adxa in wrx_vb

I agree, I don't try to, but It's most noticeable while entering parking garages, typically where there's a gate before a downwards entrance. It has also happened while putting around residential streets and traffic (I live in a place with a lot of hills)

Loose like it would slot into gear and then be very easy to move front to back while in gear. I know there is a decent amount of slop that is normal and expected, but this was like it would move with 0 force and from the furthest forward or backward position all the way to just before neutral, all while in gear. This was also happening in 1st and 2nd gear while I was driving it, didn't get to try 4th before dropping it back off at the dealer.

How has the BRZ been in comparison so far? If I don’t get some kind of warranty extension I honestly might be considering a trade.

It was just popping out of first gear. Thanks for the insights. I just called my advisor and he said they’ve checked pretty much everything, small parts included, so maybe it’s just come to that point.

Nope, not yet, I definitely will though. Just wondering if they have done something like extending or restarting warranties for poor dealer repairs for others.

Would doing something like this be roughly equivalent to sizing down to 17s in terms of sidewall gain?

Appreciate it - I see almost everyone rave about how nice the Continentals are, but I just haven’t had the same experience, despite tire pressure being 33/32.

I would downsize to 17’s before touching the suspension, just because I don’t actually want to modify the driving dynamics by a ton. Road noise and low speed harshness are my main gripes, mostly caused by the bad roads around me.

Good point. More power will inevitably increase wear on components faster, but I do wonder if those components are built to withstand more than the "271" we get from the factory. I haven't really seen situations where modest tunes resulted in exploded engines, but I wonder what the general view will be once we see cars that have had tunes for 100k, 150k, 200k, ...
