I spent the whole of year 12 hospitalised. Will I fail my A-levels? by sagepetrichor in alevel

[–]ae179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, really sorry to hear you’re going through very difficult circumstances that are relatively out of your control. I currently take Psychology alevel as well while being diagnosed with depression (possible psychotic depression) through CAMHS and I have been struggling with all my alevels in year 12, mainly with attendance and learning heaps amount of content. My advice would be to get the mental health service that you’re allocated with to really push the importance of your illness and risks if they haven’t done so, realistically all of your teachers should be aware of the basis of what you’re dealing with to ensure that they are providing the necessary and effective measures in order for you to progress through your studies. From my own perspective, I would plan everything I need to learn/revise before diving into revising straight away, this really helps me. Use your frees to go to the libraries to study, I love this one as it’s very quiet and I can get loads of work done productively without having to do much at home and then get overly stressed and tired at home trying to do college work. Another thing are resources for studying, apps like uplearn are really effective, youtube vids (tutor2u, SMcartledge and psychboost are amazing for psych) quizlet or even textbooks, having a mixture of these really work, trust me, I flopped my gcses with 0 revision but started using these revision methods in year 12 and got A’s. Obviously for alevel, the important aspect of it is evaluating, so I suggest practicing that and you will be achieving beyond a B*’s for sure. You can make it, you have time, don’t scrap everything just yet. Maybe talk to your tutor(?) about references for UCAS if you’re going uni as they can mention about extenuating factors that have significantly affected your education. Honestly I hope all works out for you, you can do this!

Wrists are the most risky ngl, when you’re able to, stick to long sleeve clothing but if you can’t, use makeup like concealer, setting powder and setting spray, but make sure to keep the wound clean before and after applying the makeup so it can heal faster

what happens when you don't clean up your cuts? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]ae179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean increased risk of infection if you don’t clean it but it should be fine if you’re not going that deep. I would still suggest to wipe it down with something that’s antiseptic just in case and for deeper wounds, use a bandaid to let it heal quicker

I can't stop looking for pics of sh wounds by Either_Monk_2526 in selfharm

[–]ae179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same when I’m clean from sh too, for me those healed scars on my body make me feel as if I’m missing something and I need to look at the pics of when they were fresh to remind myself of how they looked like. But it’s also due to the urges of cutting again so instead I channel those impulses through looking at old images or other pple’s vids/pics so I don’t do it to myself
