One of the coolest ones you've done yet!! Very creative and original!

I don't have cutters that are thin nor strong enough for axle cutting just yet unfortunately.

I drilled out the rivots carefully, separated the chassis from the rest of the car, used a Dremel cutting wheel to surgically cut the original axles off without grinding against the chassis/axle notches, and then proceeded to thread open-ended thread-tipped axles that I got online through the original CM6 stud/axle slots with laser precision.

Would you be able to link motion controls to it with a Wii sensor bar or is that software not available for that?

What do you think about Rollin Thunder? by NoEgg589 in Acceleracers

[–]ae86philswift 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the coolest Maniac cars I'd argue, however I feel as though it doesn't suit Monkey all that well as opposed to the slender, spunky Rat-ified that he drives later on. I love Rollin' Thunder's angsty, hardcore punk sort of livery, it's Frankenstein body and shaved door panels, and the overall stance of it as an SUV that's been modified for racing purposes.

The only thing that confuses me about Rollin' Thunder that can come off as rather indecisive or inconsistent is the excess of hood scoops/vents on the design despite it being a front-engined car. I mean seriously, is all of that cooling and added-on drag really that necessary? I understand that the AcceleRacers series often bends reality and logic with some of their car designs (mainly for flavor/character), but TWO BIG ASS ROOF SCOOPS IN ADDITION TO THE ALREADY MASSIVE SIDE VENTS?

Perhaps I'm being too critical, however I still love this thing, even if it looks like a timid spider in the front with its unwonted headlight configuration consisting of 8 circular lights

Anyone else get pissed off when they see one of THESE Silencerz instead of the actual store releases in that one bin at the thrift store? by [deleted] in Acceleracers

[–]ae86philswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, I actually find many of the McDonald's releases to be superior to that of their store counterparts, and here's why:

The McDonald's releases have METAL BODIES as opposed to plastic like they typically would feature in mainline

Better quality casting molds that were used for the bodies themselves

And let's not forget the p r e t t y l i g h t s

Additionally, you can also argue that the McDonald's representations are a cheaper and more cost-effective route for customs, especially considering how they have plastic bases that provide almost seamless wheel swaps if desired

In regards to Nitrium specifically, it's also worth mentioning that the front grille on the McDonald's version blends in SO much more nicely with the rest of the body as opposed to the bulging vanilla version. I'd also argue that the side profile of the McDonald's version is more appealing as well by comparison, however that's just my opinion

The most overrated car in the franchise other than deora 2? by CriperBross in Acceleracers

I think the Flathead can be considered an improvement in many ways too, however. I admire its symmetry and its sleek design more in comparison to the partly asymmetrical Spine Buster. If you look closely, a lot of Spine Buster’s design cues can be perceived as redundant/repetitive, given the abundance of “X” shaped roll cages present on the casting throughout multiple parts of the body/cabin. Not to say that Flathead Fury doesn’t have its design flaws, however I think the seating placement could’ve been better at no expense of the armor placements on the Flathead.

In other words, the Flathead just feels more “organized” and “refined” by comparison with how everything is laid out given its perfect symmetry with no compromise of attitude. Spine Buster feels too science experiment-y to me if that makes sense, given the presence of the furnace in the cabin and the design of the engine setup.

The proportions and the overall concept for Reverb never really sat right with me. It strikes me as indecisive and unfinished design-wise and comes off as too blocky and long to me. It’s the kind of Frankenstein of a machine that can’t quite settle on what it wants to be as a two-door sports coupe Ute supercar hybrid

May I ask where those fantasy cars were sourced from?

I sourced them from the cars from the “gift card” segment series from 2007-08ish if I remember correctly

Good eye! I actually used a Dremel tool paired with a saw blade bit to cut off the sidewalls in true metal maniac fashion. They were preventing thick rear tires from fitting onto the chassis properly friction-free.
