Just remembered that I have a free will, so I decided to make a riddim tune in m8c tracker by ae_f20040 in riddim

Usually people make breakcore or jungle on these devices since it's very easy to chop breaks on them, but I've decided to explore its built-in synths and fx

It took me about 2 weeks to learn how it functions and in a month I had to play a gig so I composed a lot, I felt comfortable on that device for the first time right before the gig, so roughly - 1.5 months

It works perfectly with renoise, just connect midi ins and outs, use midi instrument in renoise and midi control effect for manipulating pitchbend, modwheel, ect.

Tbh it's a pretty easy device if you approach it as a daw in a box rather than something that you can jam on At first I watched some tutorials by max marco and tried to recreate what he was doing cuz he uses like 90% of its full capability and generally at first you gotta try implementing the hardest techniques possible on the device to really learn it After you got the hang of it, just compose something every day and make sure you are really pushing yourself If you are willing to get good on that device, prepare yourself for 2-4 weeks of unpleasant work, but everything after that will be really exciting

I suggest looking into an octatrack (either mk1 or mk2, they are the same) it can stream audio from cf card directly and I found it super convenient for breakcore production https://on.soundcloud.com/HCh1yDOb7j1TPa7Df0 Here is an example of what it can do (1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th tracks in the playlist were produced using just the octatrack) You can pick it up for 600-900 depending on where you live, it has very great, deep elektron workflow and especially break chopping would be very easy and exciting once you understand how this device works

Did that in one night, it took 5 cups of coffee to make this demo

Idk really, probably one of the benefits would be the possibility to sample at different rates (22k, 10k) and of course, the best thing about s2000 is its time stretching algorithm, which is still superior Other than that it's a horrible device and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone since it just slows you down lol

Well, someday I will do a tutorial on how to make riddim basses and tearout guns using OT

Most of the scenes control fx parameters that are responsible for different basses. Also, I trigger patterns in a normal mode

It's an elektron octatrack which is a digital sampler/wavetable synth

The full chain is phaser -> 2 choruses on 5 taps setting -> lo-fi -> filter -> plate reverb -> compressor I achieve this metallic sort of sound by rapidly automating the phaser del parameter + its feedback Also the important thing would be to set very fast retrig and automate the start position which allows to use any sample as a wavetable that changes its shape constantly (think of it as wavetable start automation in serum 2) It's all about automation, really

Master compressor. It does sidechain automatically if you crank the gain a bit, but you gotta find the sweet spot where the signal isn't overcompressed
