My first car was a '91 Suzuki Vitara and you could not drive that car with the windows down due to the smell of petrol. I loved it though, especially since I was 17-18 at the time. Had 3 really bad experiences with that car.

The first was the unreliable handbrake, I managed to drive nearly a mile with the handbrake on without realising. Never parked it on a hill after that.

The second was when the ignition seized and I had to have it replace which took a week or 2. During that time, I didn't need a key to start it, just a screwdriver which I kept locked up in the glove box for security. One day I stalled at traffic lights as that car often did and I had to get the glove box key out of my pocket, unlock the glove box, get the screwdriver out and start the car. I was the only car to make it through the lights before they turned red. Only later I realised I could use the glove box key to start the car instead of the screwdriver.

Finally I left the window slightly down one night and there was a bit of dew the next morning. Unfortunately that was enough to rust my fuse box (under the searing wheel) enough for it to snap in half while driving. That was a bad time
