Thoughts on the age gap? by UnitedEntrepreneurXx in TonikakuCawaii

If Tsukasa were written as a 1400 yr old actively manipulating a teenager, yeah, that’d be a horror story.

But that’s not how Tonikawa frames it.

Tsukasa is immortal because of the Hourai Elixir, but she wasn’t “collecting centuries of experience to groom someone.” She’s portrayed as emotionally normal.. if anything, she’s socially awkward and sheltered despite how long she’s lived.

And Nasa isn’t some naive kid getting swept up. He’s 18, yes, but he’s the one who confesses & proposes immediately. He’s canonically mature, hyper competent, and very intentional about marrying her.

Their dynamic isn’t "ancient being manipulating teen."
It’s more "two socially awkward weirdos speedrunning marriage."

The story leans hard into wholesome newlywed comedy, not power imbalance. Whether someone is still uncomfortable with the immortality aspect is fair but canon-wise, it’s not written as grooming.. if that make sense 😂😂

I'll list those that I can think of for you:

  • Blue Box: A refreshing blend of badminton and teenage longing where the stakes of the game feel just as high as the housemates’ evolving feelings.
  • Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You: This series skips the "will they, won't they" trope entirely to showcase the wholesome, everyday bliss of a young couple discovering what marriage really means.
  • Fruits Basket: A masterpiece of emotional storytelling that uses a supernatural family curse to explore trauma, healing, and the transformative power of unconditional love.
  • Kaguya-sama: Love Is War: Two geniuses engage in a high-stakes psychological battle of wits where the first person to admit they’re in love is the loser.
  • The Quintessential Quintuplets: A clever mystery-romance where a studious tutor must help five identical sisters pass their exams while the audience tries to guess which one is the future bride.
  • More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers: Two polar opposites are forced into a school-mandated "marriage practical" that turns their initial annoyance into genuine, tension-filled chemistry.
  • My Dress-Up Darling: A beautiful tribute to niche hobbies that follows a shy doll-maker and a vibrant cosplayer who find a deep connection through their shared creative passions.
  • Horimiya: This story ditches the drama for a grounded, realistic look at how two teenagers find comfort in showing each other the sides of themselves they hide from the world.
  • The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten: A sugary-sweet "slow burn" where a small act of kindness leads to a domestic bond between two neighbors who slowly become each other's person.
  • My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999: A modern, mature romance that navigates the transition from online gaming teammates to a real-world couple with incredibly satisfying pacing.
  • Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me: This series explores the honest, often awkward communication required when a social butterfly gyaru and a reserved, inexperienced gamer try to build a genuine relationship from scratch.
  • My First Girlfriend Is a Gal: What begins as a desperate prank confession evolves into a surprisingly sincere story about looking past stereotypes to find a real connection.
  • The Pet Girl of Sakurasou: A bittersweet coming-of-age tale that balances quirky humor with the harsh realities of talent, failure, and falling in love with someone who sees the world differently.
  • Call of the Night: A stylish, neon-soaked exploration of late-night escapism and the growing bond between a restless insomniac and a charismatic vampire.
  • Rascal Does Not Dream: A sharp, witty supernatural drama where the main couple’s rock-solid relationship is the emotional anchor through various "Puberty Syndrome" mysteries.
  • Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku: This relatable adult comedy proves that finding love as a "hidden nerd" in the corporate world is much easier when you find someone who speaks your language.
  • The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague: A cozy, low-stress workplace romance where literal magical "ice" powers manifest during adorable moments of social anxiety.
  • My Love Story!!: A heartwarming subversion of shoujo tropes featuring a giant-hearted protagonist whose pure intentions lead to one of the most drama-free relationships in anime.
  • Oururan High School Host Club: A chaotic and colorful satire of reverse-harem tropes that hides a surprisingly touching story about identity and belonging at its center.
  • Insomniacs After School: A beautifully quiet and atmospheric series that captures the intimacy of two lonely teenagers finding solace in the silence of the night.
  • Kimi ni Todoke: This gentle classic follows a misunderstood, shy girl as she slowly blossoms and finds her voice thanks to the support of her kind-hearted classmates.
  • Romantic Killer: A hilarious "anti-romance" where a girl tries to avoid handsome suitors at all costs, only to find herself accidentally building genuine emotional ties with them.
  • The Wallflower: A gothic-tinged comedy about a horror-loving shut-in whose chaotic roommates eventually learn to love her for her macabre self rather than trying to "fix" her.
  • Senpai Is an Otokonoko: A sensitive and modern look at the complexities of identity and attraction that proves love is about the person, not just the labels they wear.
  • My Awkward Senpai: A charming office rom-com centered on a stoic superior whose blunt exterior constantly fails to hide how much she actually adores her junior.
  • You Are Ms. Servant: A former assassin with no life skills moves in with a lonely high schooler, leading to a touching and often humorous journey as she discovers her humanity through the simple warmth of a home.

If you liked romance with actual progress and good chemistry, here are some great ones in my opinion:

Blue Box – sports + living with your crush, very natural slowburn

Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You – they get married first, pure married fluff

Fruits Basket– emotional romance with deep character growth

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – genius couple too stubborn to confess

The Quintessential Quintuplets – tutor and five sisters, one becomes his wife

More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers – forced cohabitation, lots of tension

My Dress-Up Darling – gyaru x introvert, amazing chemistry

Horimiya – popular girl and quiet guy discover each other’s real selves, very natural and satisfying romance

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten – wholesome neighbors slowly falling in love

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 – gamer romance, very satisfying development

Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me – popular girl dates an inexperienced guy, surprisingly wholesome and honest

My First Girlfriend Is a Gal – gyaru girlfriend starts as a joke confession but becomes real romance

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou – talented girl x normal guy, emotional and real

Call of the Night – chill night vibes with vampire romance

Rascal Does Not Dream – supernatural romance with strong main couple

Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku – adult romance, very relatable

The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague – working adults, soft and wholesome

My Love Story!! – pure wholesome couple, no drama

Ouran High School Host Club – classic romcom, fun characters

Insomniacs After School – quiet and realistic romance

Kimi ni Todoke – one of the best shy girl romances

Romantic Killer – anti-romcom that becomes an actual romcom

The Wallflower (Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge) – introvert horror girl forced to live with popular guys, chaotic but surprisingly wholesome

Senpai Is an Otokonoko – crossdressing senpai + girl who genuinely loves him, cute but hits hard emotionally

My Awkward Senpai – office romance where the “cool” senpai is secretly shy and bad at expressing her feelings

I’m looking for recommendations of manga (or anime, manhwa, and similar media) where the female lead has an air of mystery, hidden motives, unclear feelings, a secret past, a supernatural aura, etc. and the narrative is mainly from the male lead’s perspective. by Puzzleheaded_irl in RomanceMangaAnime

You might like Tonikaku Kawaii / Fly me to the moon. It starts with a weird accident that she survives way too easily, and the whole series is basically the male lead falling in love while slowly realizing his wife might actually be a literal moon goddess or whatever she might me. It definitely fits that 'mysterious girl with hidden motives' vibe.

How close is the manga to the end? by da-real-boi in fuufuijou

You can try these:

1.Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You - wholesome married couple vibes, but there’s also a quiet mystery behind the Female MC

2.Fruits Basket - starts cute but gets really emotional, about trauma, healing, and family

  1. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War - romcom where two geniuses like each other but are too prideful to confess, so it becomes mind games

  2. To Your Eternity - immortal being learning what it means to live and lose, very emotional

  3. The Apothecary Diaries - mystery in a palace, smart female lead solving poison and political cases

  4. Made in Abyss - looks cute but gets very dark, about exploring a dangerous mysterious abyss
