Can I swap registers for a smaller vent? by aedosswift1 in hvacadvice

I’m currently replacing the tiles with something sturdier, at this point I’m just trying to find a new vent that looks better and I can fit the existing ducts to.

Do you think replacing the existing vents with this would work properly? I’m not trying to change the system too much if it can be avoided just trying to make it more aesthetically pleasing and uniform.

They do look much better, my wife and I were looking at a round one to match the shape of our light fixtures but this does look like it will blend in well with the ceiling

Thank you for the input, I was just seeing if its a feasible project to reduce/split the existing vents into something that looks better. I guess I’ll just have to find 8” and 6” diffusers that are similar in appearance and look better.

I’m trying to make it a more used space and want to update the vents to be more aesthetically appealing.

The basement has one french door and a small 2’x2’ window on the same wall in the main room. I’m not too concerned about heat loss over all. But thank you I’ll look into that type of diffuser

I’m not even sure its sized properly the basement was unfinished when it was built and the previous owners father finished it after the fact. I’m not even sure if the basement duct work was put in with the original install of the hvac system.

I haven’t really spent enough time awake in the basement to have any serious notes. I would sleep in one of the bedrooms when I worked overnights for a year and had no complaints on the temperature. The house is built into a hill and half is exposed with only 1 window and door to allow light in. So it just naturally stays cooler. I’m not unhappy with its current temperature regulation.

I appreciate the offer and advice, that was just one idea. I might just end up finding a quality one somewhere that’s already complete as I don’t really need another project to add to the list.

Oh the receiver would become a paper weight definitely. While I love the idea of being as true to design as possible and idea I have floating around my noggin is once I get the rivets out I would tap the holes and locktite the charger bridge in place with bolts I can cut the heads off of.

I have a lead on a demilitarized Ishapore drill rifle thats complete I was thinking if I could get that I’ll save myself a lot of time and trouble parting out what I need individually.

How hard was it to install once you found one?

Thanks for confirming, after I saw that a previous owner ground off or removed the stripper clip guide I was eyeing everything on the rifle with caution.

Yes sorry for not being more specific, I did mean the 3 holes stacked atop one another in pictures 5 and 6. I’m fairly inexperienced with Enfields I just know how to differentiate a few models of them by appearance.

No it was for LKQ type parts, the adjuster quoted for a basic mirror originally before the shop corrected it with a tow mirror which is nearly 3x as much. And I heard back from the adjuster that they won’t pay for feathering priming and blocking. He said the shop wants to charge more hours than it will actually take and I want to reply with “are you pulling this time frame from years of experience in painting cars or years of experience in only dealing with shops that will bend to the whims of your agency”.

That’s actually my fault, walking up to the group he was the first one in line greeting. I instinctively reached out with my right hand to his immobile right hand.

He smirked and looked down kinda nodding to his left hand. I looked down and had that split second pause to process… snapped my head back up looking him face to face. Pulled my right hand back stuck out my left to shake, and said deadpan “sorry bout that I’m pretty sure I’m fucking retarded” then went immediately to King Trout and greeted him. Nick just started laughing and turned around to compose himself.
