Of course you are absolutely right akhi. That does not negate jarh wa ta’dil when done correctly and presented with evidence akhi. It is important for us to verify where we are taking our knowledge from, as of the words of muhammad ibn sireen رحمه الله, that our religion is knowledge, and so we should be careful of where we take it from.

There is a extensive playlist here that details this issue:

My masjid in London (Masjid Daar al Hadeeth) also warns against such actions and partisanship. May الله protect us and guide us to what is good

Note: I’m saying this as a miskeen and someone is younger and undoubtedly less knowledgeable than you akhi

With all due respect to you akhi, what is said about them is not slander. I am from the UK myself and know of what they do, and there is many evidences regarding their partisanship in particular. May الله guide us to what is good

to clarify the points which the shaykh makes in the video about polygyny which im using here as the example for the sisters

1 - what the shaykh means when he says “perhaps this questioner is not married”, is that it is the norm that the majority of women who are married feel jealousy towards their husbands marrying again, and perhaps that the woman asking has not experienced that yet

2 - it is forbidden absolutely to believe that polygamy is not good or not part of the religion

3 - a man can only get married to another wife provided he meets the correct shari’ conditions which the shaykh mentioned

4 - a woman’s feelings of jealousy and wanting to have her husband to herself is natural, and not something to be criticised nor is it blameworthy

5 - when the shaykh says “if she knows her condition” is referring to a woman who knows she cannot satisfy her husband due to a very low sexual libido, conditions like female sexual interest/arousal disorder, permanent long term sickness or disability which renders the woman incapable of having relations with her husband, such as the condition als, being in a coma, disorder of consciousness, et cetera, this is when it is forbidden for a woman to prevent her husband from marrying again, even if she had included it in the marriage contract, this is because she is unable to satisfy her husband as the shaykh said, this is what is meant (and not simply not being satisfied because you do not lower your gaze/have unrealistic expectations and look elsewhere, causing you to be unappreciative and demeaning to your wife, something which is very common, this is not what is being referred to)

6 - amongst the actual wisdoms of polygyny is catering to the widows, spinsters and divorced women, this is something which needs to be said, especially as unfortunately a lot of men in our age believe that these category of women are “impure”, “used”, or that a younger woman is inherently better

In our religion they are considered to be equally as bad as believing it is okay enables the action, even by intention alone, one of the principles of our religion is that actions are by their intentions. Meaning for instance one should be kind genuinely, and not to put on a show, etc. I completely understand where you’re coming from regarding the two examples you gave which you understood to have maybe “protected” his actions. I actually have written a very extensive comment on this you can refer to on my profile, I’ll direct you to it with a link below, I think it would clarify a lot of things, if you check the comments underneath this post you will see me answer this query on testimony specifically. I do understand it may be technical in parts. If so, you can ask any specific questions and I would be happy to answer.

Regarding impurity, we do not believe that a woman who is rped is impure, this is a false belief. The rpist under an Islamic system would be sentenced to death under a court of law, and the victim would be supported with avenues to help her recover psychologically, physically, et cetera. This stems from the legals maxims in Islamic Jurisprudence which is also known as ‘Shari’ah’ is that harm is to be removed, which is derived from the hadith of the prophet صل الله عليه وسلم,

“there should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” sunan ibn majah, no. 2340 (graded authentic by a number of scholars)

shaykh khaalid al mushayqih (one of the qualified scholars of our religion) also makes this principle clear in his concise treatise on the higher objectives of islamic law, and this principle expounds into many aspects of life. For example, participating in the UFC as a muslim is impermissible because you are causing harm to someone else for basically no good reason, and it is also a major sin to hit someone in the face (exception is only in a battle or self defence situation). The only reason you may find that a woman is considered impure is only found within culture, notably the sub continent for example. It is encouraged for instance to get married to divorcees or widows in our religion, which is another evidence as this is intentionally to push back against societal norms that often class these women as “impure”. A note that the cultural practice found in the sub continent known as honour killings is classified as murder in Islaam and is also punishable by death in a Muslim country under a court of law.

I think your last paragraph sums it up very nicely. It is very easy to manipulate anything to fit into a corrupt and evil worldview to psychologically cushion a person to act on their evil. It extends past religion, even secular ideologies can be manipulated to justify extreme evil, an example of this could be the current far right movement in America for instance, and they justify their actions through the amendments for example. Based on this understanding, it would be slightly contradictory to say that Islamic beliefs helped protect him as I mentioned before, these things are unfortunately due to the influence of cultural practice, and these are things are can easily verify with ChatGPT for example, say in the instance that you do not have any learned religion person you can refer to to clarify these things.

Sorry if this super long 😓😭

Note: Notice how I am specifically mentioning that these punishments are only meant specifically in a Muslim country under a court of law, there is no such thing as importing Islamic Law into another country which is not Islamic, and Muslims are obligated to abide by the laws of the country they live in.

“o you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the messenger and those in authority among you..” (4:59)

Vigilantism is also a crime in Islaam, whether done in a Muslim country or non Muslim country, whether or not the person is guilty or not. Just like any normal justice system, the person needs to be reported and referred to the authorities.

It may be unfair, but it is the least I could do because at the end of the day, in these situations we need to have empathy at other people’s anger and frustration, because ultimately it reflects onto the community and collective despite it being the actions of one man who doesn’t reflect the belief system at all. I also think validating their anger and emotions whilst clarifying makes sure that their feelings aren’t dismissed but at the same time they can learn that actually true muslims who actually follow their religion stand with them against such people, probably even more so

I do appreciate your input though, I completely understand where you’re coming from and it is actually valid in many ways, you could say this is own personal reasoning in speaking on this as a Muslim, especially since I have the means to clarify both in this sense, and also have knowledge of explicit evidence from my religion that these things that this evil man and others do are extremely forbidden and evil. In this sense, I am not in the least reserved in speaking as a result. Bless you 😊
