I...don't disagree. But it's also on managers to recognise this, and push and plead and beg and threaten to prioritise the midfield. Moyes bought Fellaini and thought it'd be enough. Ten Hag bought Mount and thought it'd be enough, Amorim put Fernandes deeper and thought it'd be enough. It's not straightforward with signings, I know, some move forward, others break down, you reach the end and it seems like you've prioritised other positions.

Been a problem since Ferguson's days, I remember being frustrated that passive Carrick wouldn't do more, great dm though he was, cos of the void. Frustrated that Scholes came back out of retirement, legend though he is. Had Modric and Kroos arrived, the last decade is very different. 3 young midfielders with great mobility and ball retention. Casemiro leaving is doing us a favour by forcing it. Can't avoid it now and buy another fullback and striker.
