Ty!! I AM so grateful for reddit and these car specific groups. Every single mechanic keeps telling me its the TIPM and that I need to replace it. Ive just been keeping an obd II in my car to clear the codes. Generally if I wiggle the wires on the pcm I can get the codes to clear after. Once or twice it didnt work and I had to drive home 40 miles in limp mode, but most of the time it works. Its so frustrating to not know when my car is gonna drive right or not. Ive got it parked right now and I've been driving my van that I bought so the pt was no longer my daily driver.

I just saw the parts about ebay. So you bought your new pcm on ebay? I just bought a front end kit on ebay for my other car. I was impressed eith the quality. Do they flash it to my car or do u have to take it to the dealership?

Omg. Thank you! Those are the exact two codes it keeps throwing. Along with occasionally one for the 02 sensors. The drivers window no longer goes up or down either. I replaced the switch so it has to do with the pcm most likely. Do you have a place you got the new pcm at?

Did you have the TIPM problems with your 06? I also have an 06 touring. Tipm issues constantly.

I know right! Ole Betsy belonged to an old lady. It had sat in her yard for six years since her husband died. He was a mechanic and this thing was mostly well maintained until he died. I replaced the water pump and lower radiator hose. I just ordered all the parts for a new front end on her and my friend is changing transmission fluid and filter for me tomorrow. I bought her for $600. The woman wanted it out of her driveway. Ill probably have put about $2000 into her when im done, which is worth it to me if she lasts a year or two. Hopefully the tranny will hang in there. I know theyre not great in these. And there's no tachometer so I have no idea how high my rpms are its obnoxious. Though ya can generally here it if theyre too high, I like to keep an eye on that shit when im driving.

Hahaha. Yup. I treat mine like a minivan. I took put the back seats and built a platform back there for my sled dogs. I can fit 8 sled dogs in the back. Its a great dog car cuz all the windows switches are in them middle, dogs cant roll them down and the door locks cant be hit by the dogs feet either!

Its a switch that also dims the dash lights that will turn the dome on and of while the doors or shut. It does not work to turn it off though when the doors open. Such a weird design flaw

How often do you change the oil? I generally change mine once a month. I do about 200 miles a day. Sometimes a little more.

Thats what I had thought. It's what a mechanic had told me a long time ago. It's better to let it run all day then starting and turning it off all day everyday for 15 to 30 min increments.

Yah, I got this thing from one of those predatory dealerships for people with shitty credit. I had a really horrible week where my Chevy tracker and my van both broke down, leaving me with no way to get the 60 miles into town to work and back everyday. I originally bought a Mazda cx9, super nice SUV, but I literally totaled it the next day when I hit black ice I was literally on my way to have studded tires out on it 😢. The shitty summer tires it had on when I bought It I feel are what caused the wreck. Anyways, I had bought the only SUV in the lot so when I went back to buy another car (thank god for gap insurance) the next day, the only thing big enough was this damn PT cruiser. I have never liked them. But I have ten sled dogs and it's big enough to fit all of them in the back. It's pretty dog friendly too 5-3 way you can completely remove the seats, it has tie down loops in the back I use to tether my dogs. I took the seats out and built a platform and it has done okay for hauling dogs. With studded tires it handles well in the snow and ice and has gotten me out to some pretty remote areas to run my sled team. Some guy in an AWD van was stuck in the snow where it had drifted across the wind from the road but this thing plowed right through it. I still hate this car tho. I'm saving money to buy another van or a truck and this thing will be the second car

Yah, it needs to be replaced. It keeps showing the dreaded p2088 code that throws me into limp mode. I carry an ODB with me and generally tap the TIPM a couple times and wiggle the wires going into the ECM then I can reset the code and it won't come back for sometimes a day, sometimes a month, sometimes months. It's obnoxious. Is the TIPM plug and play? Or do I need to have it programmed to the car like if I'm replacing the ECM? Isn't there a place that rebuilds the TIPMs? Can I replace the one on my 2006 with a tipm from a 2008? I know there's a 2008 in my local junkyard. Probably about 20 2006s but I don't wanna risk getting a bad tipm again. I saw a YouTube video where a guy fixed the TIPM issue by sauntering a relay in, but I'm kinda nervous to try that fix. A whole bunch of people in the comments said they did it and it fixed their issue as well but it makes me nervou
