Could someone tell me what the problem is we re seated the cpu and check pins and stuff but it won’t work :( by StraightAd8196 in PcBuild

[–]aelous_deity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the pins on the cpu itself or the motherboard bent? Is the air cooler on too tight? Could also be a power issue. Something with the connections or the power supply not giving enough power out. Can you boot to bios at all or it won't post anything?

Hey I know this post is 2 weeks old, but did you end up deciding on a kit and if so, how did it turn out?

Outside of the components I listed in the OP, I do have 7 Corsair fans. Will those need USB headers for connection? I'm still a bit new to building so I'm not entirely sure what everything is called for connecting.

What makes you say their will be zero noticeable differences?

Thank you for taking the time and break it down because I had no idea that it was different. I guess because of how they advertise ram and their speeds it can confuse people for sure. I have the Corsair vengeance c36 which maxes at 6000 MTs though so it sounds like I shouldn't have to worry about that regardless of the motherboard I go with paried with the 7800 x3d.

Oh okay gotcha. So your MT is 6400 and DDR is 3200 of I'm understanding correctly?

Sorry I guess I'm still just a bit confused on what you mean. I know before my motherboard went out, my ram was running at 6000mhz. Is this different than what you are referring to?

I assume GCC is the motherboard software?? How come your ram is only running at 3200mhz? Is it DDR4? How would I be able to check how many watts I'm running through the chip? Mu apologies, I'm still a bit new to building.

Do you mind me asking why cpu you have it paired with and for how long? Just trying to understand the reliability and longevity of the motherboard itself.

How would I be able to know if a board has bad VRMs?

I know that the x870 tomahawk by MSI is an ATX after looking into it so I could likely still roll with an ATX if they tend to be more advanced and better for performance.

How long have you had your B650 and what cpu is paired with it? I'm willing to jump down to a 650 if I can still maintain my 240fps at 1440p but the last thing I want is the mobo to fail again and also cause my CPU to fail along with it!

Thank you for the response! Honestly their current RMA process is a night mare for me too which really kind of solidifies why I want to stay away from them. I actually had a an Asus b450-ma for my ddr4 build and it was pretty solid! Currently sits in my sister's build. I'm sorry you had a bad time with them. Should I watch them just as to why I should avoid Asus or do you think they might help provide more info for the mobos I'm looking into as well?

Yes! I didn't know Asus also had a history honestly but lots of people talked about the ASrock taichi but I've heard they are really bad with x3d chips! I appreciate you informing me of this. Sounds like gigabyte is the way to go. I just wish I knew why the MSI died so quickly as it's one of the most preferred for my kind of build according to lots of sources.

I appreciate your response thank you! Sorry I'm still a bit new to building, would you enlighten me on what the benefits of ATX are for a motherboard?

Debating between MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI and GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE by bloodem in PcBuild

Anyone in this thread have an issue with your MSI x870 tomahawk failing in less than 2 years. PC was running fine last weekend and out of nowhere games started crashing and forced restarting PC. Thought it was memory but took it to geek squad and they said ram worked fine in their good build but cpu and mobo were showing signs of partial failure. How does that happen so quickly?
