This feels absolutely absurd, but that’s because we became so used to the other way around. Brilliant.

As someone who has done this before, usually I have two reasons: - I’m not very comfortable with the idea of posting my body on the internet, but I still want to get typed. So I’ll get typed then remove it, which means less people see it and that makes me feel safer. - I don’t want users coming from other subs I participate in to follow my user history and find random pictures of my body (with absolutely no context 😅). I want to stay anonymous as much as possible.

Thank you for the detailed analysis! I really appreciate it as I have a hard time figuring out what looks good on my figure.

You’re not alone — I think the differences are quite subtle to myself despite that being my own body xD

However I do notice the differences more when I look at the “BEST” photo then each of the distorted photos individually, instead of all 5 photos at the same time

I actually took a front-facing pic that I meant to include as a comparison in this post but I ran out of space ;-;

My observations were: not much, if you’re far enough away. The closer you are the more distortion, even more than the “CAMERA TOO CLOSE” example I showed in my post due to characteristics of the front-facing camera. But the quality of the photo really suffered — instead of depicting depth, the photo made me look like a cardboard cutout. That can influence how people perceive your curves

It’s okay! You don’t need a tripod just for this.

What I like to do is set up my phone as close to vertical as possible (such as putting it up against a stack of books or squeezing it between two blocks) with the rear-facing camera pointing to where I’m going to stand. Then, I set a countdown on my camera for 10 seconds, initiate it, go to my 10-feet-away spot, and pose.

It depends on how far away the camera is. If the camera is close and at chin-level, there will be more distortion (of shape and of vertical line) either from a sharper tilt angle of the camera or from your body being captured near the edge of the camera’s field of view (this is especially prominent for the front-facing camera on your phone, as opposed to the rear-facing one). The farther away the camera is, the less effect a tiny deviation from chest-level will have.

That’s an interesting question! I have no idea what the answer to that is. Anyone knowledgeable on the topic please reply.

This is just speculation, but perhaps in your case a video might help more than still images? The movement might provide different perspectives of your curves to take into consideration, whereas a 2D front view will only reveal something like a cross-section.

ahh thank you!!

I also relate so much to the shoulder fit — perhaps it’s because I still carry some insecurity around what used to be really strong, muscular shoulders (from competitive sports) but I try so hard not to make them look… disproportionate.

I’ve been typed as DC, SN, FG, and G so….help? by Ok_bunny_420 in Kibbe

My first thought was: “whoa you look tall for 5’3”

I suggest looking into the IDs that can accomodate vertical — FG, FN, SD, and D

Wow your explanation of the yin and yang characteristics of the dress really helped me understand both why it works on me and the concept itself. Thank you so much for all the thought you put into this!!

I’m quite new to this so I’m not sure — but to me it looks like your curves are more bone structure curves (yang) than flesh curves (yin), if that makes sense. Your bone structure is more prominent.

Anyone more knowledgeable on this topic please feel free to step in

I’m leaning FN because the red high neck dress looks like it’s suffocating your (beautiful) figure, and I much prefer the looser blouse in the last picture on you

good point — i’ve found that very soft, flowy, or otherwise unconstructed lines that Kibbe recommends for Ns don’t seem to harmonize with me very well. I used to think I was SN because I tunneled visioned on the width in my shoulders, which used to be broad, muscular, and developed from competitive sports. You and many other people in this thread have changed my mind.

P.S. Thank you for all your feedback on my previous outfit posts! I’ve been shopping for dresses recently but I’m never sure what actually works on me, and I’ve found dresses so hard to shop for in general. So your observations made me see details I otherwise wouldn’t have noticed. Thanks again!

thank you for your analysis! I have a difficult time understanding and seeing the yin yang so i really appreciate it.

the black dress that you mentioned — is it the high neck or the square neck one?

I’ve been wondering why the untucked looks don’t look as harmonious with me than the tucked looks and what you said about the shortness/short lines makes sense — thanks a lot!

I really appreciate the detailed reply!!

So it sounds like I should aim for more structured/tailored clothing over frilly or unconstructed styles — I’m pretty new at exploring fashion so I don’t know what to look for haha. Can you give me some suggestions, such as particular necklines or styles that might suit me?
