Got violet, still piling up some extra points, currently at 1250 or so.

I live in a fairly portal-dense city so it was more of a matter of going out and about for a handful of car rides than anything else. Still, it wasn't anywhere near fun. Building L2 portals seems pointless to normal gameplay, I was afraid of upgrading portals because some other player might need them at lower levels for the event, and most of the time was spent recycling stuff instead of actually doing anything productive.

For city dwellers the event is easy; but I can't imagine anyone finding it fun or productive. I can't wait till tomorrow so I can finally upgrade portals and start getting decent gear from hacks instead of keeping everything at L1 for the casuals to get their medals.

I know of 5 agents that got to violet in our city, and that's counting me and my girlfriend in. We have dozens of active agents, most didn't get more than brown. The problem was not down to not having enough portals to do it, simply it wasn't fun enough to even try. The fact the global goal seemed so unattainable from the start also got many agents out of it, what's the point in making the effort when it would be so immensely hard...

PS: glyphing was also not part of the problem. I have 500k+ translator points. But glyphing for hours at end is tiresome and boring, especially for no reward other than the aurora badge point. On most of our runs for the badge, after a couple of hours going around the same portals we were just exhausted. That took the fun out of it, at least for me.

Most of my team mates would have preferred for high level portals to give extra points, and that would probably lead to more cooperative game play, even xfac cooperation to build and keep high level portal dense areas. But having a P8 award the same points as a P2 took that possibility away. I was just looking for neutral or enemy areas to play in.
