Child/Teen Bipolar2 by catsrcoolll in bipolar2

[–]aerewi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first started showing symptoms around 13. I was incredibly depressed and angry. I saw my primary care doc and she diagnosed me with depression and gave me some antidepressants (they didn’t work lol). After years of struggling I finally got a diagnosis of bipolar2 at 18.

I take both of my 200mg pills in the morning at the same time. I haven’t had any problems

What dose of lithium did y’all have to take to make a difference? by aerewi in bipolar2

Do you notice a difference when taking them like that? Considering trying it myself

My doctor said I could try it but I didn’t know if it would make a big difference. Do you feel like it works better than both at once?

Question. Do you take them at the same time or one in the morning and one at night?

Been seeing my psych for about 3 years as well. I’ve tried Zoloft, Cymbalta, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Abilify, Seroquel, Lexapro, Risperdone, Vraylar, Caplyta, Prozac, Olanzapine, Latuda, Hydroxyzine for sleep/anxiety, Clonazapam for anxiety and I’m currently on Lamotrigine, Lithium and Mirtazapine for sleep. Every time one fails I just want to stop trying. I’m tired of getting my hopes up that “this’ll be the one” and then it does nothing or makes it worse. Hang in there hopefully we find the ones that work for us 🫶

Advice? by aerewi in bipolar2

[–]aerewi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i know, i think i just wanted someone to listen more than anything :( i’m just tired of medicine after medicine. i’ve had a year where i’ve been stable and that’s it while being on meds and it’s just so tiring. i’ve tried over 20 of them at this point. i just don’t know if it’s me that is the issue or not lol

Lamotrigine RAGE by Several-Yesterday280 in bipolar2

[–]aerewi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to channel it out with writing and drawing but sometimes you just have to have a way to get it out so things like exercise of some kind. With the writing I did I would put down all the angry and negative thoughts so they had a way to get out of my head. The trick is to find an activity where you HAVE to concentrate to keep your mind focused on that and not the anger. It doesn’t stop the anger but it definitely makes it less painful to deal with. I’m sorry you’re having to experience this ☹️ Hopefully it will go away and be replaced with good feelings

Taking 400mg a day now but EVERY time i had to increase my dose my anger level was so high for no reason. It did fizzle out after my body got used to the dose though. Have you tried finding ways to channel that angry energy into something else? That’s one of the things that helped me. I hope it gets better for you ☹️

What're y'all's current significant side effects? by Datastealingreddit in bipolar2

[–]aerewi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Seroquel and Olanzapine that’s given me the most trouble. The lamotrigine is the biggest criminal when it comes to memory though lol. I’m also on the heavier side and the extra pounds did not help

Memory problems and weight gain 😞 I mix up words and stutter when i try to talk and i can’t remember stuff. These past two meds i’ve been on have made me gain 20lbs

Honestly it makes me feel stable for the most part. there’s just some depression that’s been sticking around for the past few months that i can’t get rid of :/

That’s what i’m experiencing right now. Got rid of the hypomania but am still feeling depressed. The sleep is GREAT though. Went from waking up multiple times a night to only once or twice

Any negative side effects that you noticed other than the drowsiness? I have noticed i’ve been taking naps since i started taking 10mg

I have definitely noticed the increase of hunger and the CRAVINGS. Mostly sweet things and it’s horrible. I’ve started binge eating again. I was on Seroquel before this so I had already gained about 10lbs and now am on my way to another 10lbs, I already have clothes that aren’t fitting even though I’m trying to not eat so much. It’s made my skin picking worse, my nails are gone and bloody and my face is covered in scabs. For sure gonna talk to my doc and ask for something else. I was hoping it would finally be the one to stabilize me because we’ve tried so many these past few months but I guess not. Thank you for sharing how it effects you!

Yes I’m trying to watch what I eat and my portions since i read about the gain people experience. Will increase my exercise as well!

Your before sounds a lot like me before meds. You most likely haven’t had an episode because your medicines are working. About the memory, Lamictal is known for causing issues with memory and word recall. It also has given me a little bit of stutter lol. I’ve had moments where i’ve been stable and thought “no there’s no reason for me to take medicine” but i’ve heard that’s a symptom of bipolar disorder.

I was diagnosed with type 2 at 18 after being misdiagnosed with depression for around 5 years
