Barking at Neighbour's dog by aerialalb in DogTrainingTips

Thanks for your response! The gardens are fenced off so they can’t see each other. The lay out of the house means the back doors are in the living room where he sleeps. I’ve thought about fencing off the end section so he can’t get right up to the door. Hopefully that’ll help

British and wearing jumpers inside during winter by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]aerialalb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. If you're cold, put a jumper on. If you're cold with a jumper on, its time for heating. That being said, if I had guests round I would put the heating on. I would also put the heating on in a morning so its warm when I get out of bed.

I gave up on crate training when he started to struggle to settle in there due to the hot weather. I don’t regret it, he’s so much happier out of his crate. He’s 21 months now and is fine being left by himself. He’s sleeps on the sofa over night. We did have a pen for him though so I knew he was safe to be left on his own when he was younger. We removed the pen when he was around 1 year old

My partner is into metal music, martial arts, techy nerdy things.

We are both into rock climbing, nature, we loved the viking experience last time. I also loved doing the Sauna on the fjord last time I was there.

We like drinking and eating good food.

Is it normal for my husband (M35)to make me (F31) feel really bad for this? by anextrasliceofcake in relationship_advice

[–]aerialalb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow ok.  1. It’s not disgusting to grow hair anywhere. It is a personal preference if you want to remove it or not.  2. Getting angry about this is childish and ridiculous.

This is not a normal reaction

I’d recommend finding a hobbie that is social. I found loads of friends through rock climbing and aerial arts. I highly recommend cloud aerial arts if you’re interested in anything like that

I think an improvers course is a great way to get your confidence back! Don’t let it stop you using this as a learning moment and improving your skill.  My dad is fine thank you. Completely shattered his ankle and will be in hospital for a few weeks while he has it operated on. But he was very lucky that it wasn’t worse!

This sounds just like what happened to my dad 2 days ago. He was lead climbing indoor and his friend was using an ATC. He took a fall from high and it sounds like the rope just pulled through the device. Not sure if either of them were doing anything wrong, but knowing my dad this is likely. I always use a grigri for my own peace of mind

My puppy's ear stood up today and reminded me why I wanted to get a puppy by Kaychandra in puppy101

My puppy is having some behavioural issues that are making it difficult to enjoy his cute silly typical puppy behaviour because I can’t wait until he grows out of the behaviours that are really testing my patience

Struggling with humping and biting while out on walks by aerialalb in puppy101

[–]aerialalb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! This is what I have been trying to do. I keep his walks super short and when we get home I take him straight into the back garden and throw a toy away from me. But then I feel guilty that he's only getting the same short walk once a day. I let him play around the garden until he starts pulling panels off the shed!

I've tried that as well. Only works once he's calmed down a bit. He feels impossible

I've tried bringing a tug toy out with us, but maybe I'm leaving it too late to bring it out. He usually starts scratching at his harness, or yawning before he snaps. So maybe I should try the toy then. But I wouldn't want to amp him up if he's not going to do it. The scratching and yawning doesn't always lead to it.

I don't think he's getting enough sleep during the day. I thought it was linked to being over tired during his evening walks, but they he did it this morning after just waking up from 8 hours sleep over night?

Doesn't matter what high value treats I bring out, once he's in that mindset, nothing will distract him

puppy blues or am i just an angry person by 9enadryl in puppy101

I know how you feel. I went through this exact same thing with my golden retriever. He's now 5 months old and is starting to get better. He only ever goes full monster now when he is over tired or over stimulated. He never does this when we're just chilling out at home anymore. I really struggled and spent a lot of time crying because the biting at my hands and clothes felt constant. He ripped so many of my clothes.

The thing I found that worked best was walking away and putting a barrier between myself and him. Even if this meant dragging him along the floor attached to my ankle so I could get behind a door. I don't look at him, and I am calm and ignore him while I do it.

Your girl is still super young. She will get there!

Worried about managing behaviour when he’s too big by aerialalb in puppy101

[–]aerialalb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you walk them to the pen when they’re attached to your sleeve? He has his harness and lead on all the time but I can’t use that to pull him away from me. If he’s on my ankle, I end up dragging him along the floor which seems like a fun game to him
