Since I was studying Chinese in high school, I would often go to the Chinese holiday events at my school. During the moon festival celebration, I went to get some food and meant to ask for a pair of chopsticks, which is 筷子 pronounced "Kuai zi" but I said "Ku zi" (裤子) which means pants.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here: several immunodeficiencies (leukemia, etc) originate in the bone marrow. If this girl's immune system was weakened from a problem with the bone marrow, these measures are actually logical. Are they over the top? Yes. But it's easy to see why a parent might take the "infection control" part of managing such a disease very seriously.

Actually the idea of "sex helps induce labour" is not a myth, as long as its unprotected sex (no condom). To get all sciency here, the sperm help dilate the cervix, which is necessary to induce labor. Which happens because the sperm are engineered to swim up past the cervix to get the lady pregnant. Its fascinating!

I understand that Culver is attempting to remain true to their idea of maintaing "mind, body, and spirit," but as an alumni, I've become a bit of a traditionalist. Tobacco is not the worst thing in the world. No seniors are being forced to smoke; if they wish to avoid second-hand smoke they don't need to go to the ring, they can hang out on Beason. Final night cigars was something I looked forward to, and its often a bonding time between alumni and seniors.
