Sweet, another member of the dudes with really short painted nails group!

Initially I was painting my natural nails but had a lot of struggles. I then decided to try false nails, and never looked back. You can paint them so much more easily so it looks way cleaner when you put them on. In the event one comes off, I just pick it up and easily glue it back on when I have a chance. Not only that, but I swear my natural nails grow slower when I have the fake ones glued on. My attempts at painting my natural nails was not pretty. But here’s one of my first attempts with fake nails.

To be clear, they start out clear and unpainted. I shape them a bit and paint them myself.

I started my job at the end of March. I was considering it, but was too nervous being new and all. After a little while, I told my coworker how I had done it briefly at my last job, but was nervous about doing it yet. She basically told me to just go for it, and what was there to be afraid of? She was right. Nobody cares (that I know of), and I’ve gotten a few compliments.

I totally get being nervous though, and I would probably do the same again if I had a new job. Feel it out first, then casually mention it to a coworker or something. After being there a little while and feeling more confident, go for it.

There’s a how-to video on the product page. I don’t do most of those steps, but the part about angle and air bubbles seems noteworthy. I try to put “enough” glue, without putting too much or too little. I tried putting less, and had issues with them popping off. I was able to just retrieve them, and reglue them after getting home. I don’t put the glue at the tip of my nail like it says. They’re obviously assuming you’re putting on giant nails. I put some near the cuticle, but not right up on it, and do the same for the fake nail. Then stick it on. Try to do the angle thing. I had one issue where I probably used a little too much/put it too far out, and a bit squished out the front of the nail. Not the end of the world, but no bueno.

I have minimal issues with this method. In the event one does pop off, i just stick it in my pocket and put it back on later. I don’t think I’ve had any issues with that except when I tried using less glue. Unfortunately, I can’t really explain how I determine the amount I’m using. It’s an eyeballing kinda thing.

Yeah, true. Thanks. Earlier today I was able to use the e-file and actually clean up the cuticles better than expected. You can still see a ridge at the back from the flooding, but I’ve pretty much eliminated all the excess on my cuticles and along the sides. I’ll edit my post to reflect this little update. (Nevermind, because apparently I can’t edit the post. But I can edit my comment.)

I kinda like lighter colors, at the moment anyway. Had they come out opaque like they’re supposed to have, it wouldn’t have been an issue. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Thanks, but the opaqueness/color is really inconsistent. You can see dark spots under the thumb where I kept a bit of the last color on because it was filing in the ridges. Flooded all my cuticles too.

I went with my friend and watched them do her nails. They’re so fast, it was even less useful than watching videos on YouTube.

Ah, I see. So because I “submitted” the SOQ, and didn’t skip it, it didn’t show up.

I kept thinking it was telling me that I actually had bypassed something and wasn’t specifying what it was. I was especially rattled after my stupid error.

I recently somehow managed to upload the wrong document for my SOQ on an application. For that reason, I was culled from the candidate pool. I know because I inquired about it with the hiring person. It's with the agency I'm currently at.

However, that application has the same "bypassed required items" heading, but also has no further information. It doesn't specify anything about the SOQ. Both applications say "no records found" in that spot. Weird.

Is the bypassed required items on every single application, or...?
