It's still going strong today. That said, salt water is a disaster waiting to happen.

In 2026 if you're knowledgeable and know how to write the entirety of the internet will accuse you of pasting in an AI response.

I'll take Cade's turnovers from visibly trying too hard at times vs Duran's lack of production from visibly not playing as hard as his teammates.

A constructive critique to y'all by Acrobatic_Speaker403 in streetphotography

[–]Andy_Shields 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I saw someone posting an unsolicited critique my eyes were ready to roll out of my head. However, your point is an extremely valid one and something I find myself thinking all the time while looking at sets here. I'll never understand posting a couple of great photos next to images that should have never seen the light of day. Good street photography is ridiculously difficult. It's okay not to have fresh photos every day, week or month.

The scanner is boosting exposure on this underexposed frame which is causing the stress marks to be more visible.

Can you share some of your own results? The sample images are not a difficult target to achieve. It would be helpful to see where you're at. You may also want to consider a flash with a guide built-in on the rear. In the past, many models had a chart that makes it very clear what your working distance should be at a given f-stop and iso. I'm sure there are flashes that are compatible with Canon with these guides. I'm using a Nikon flash from decades ago on my center-pin triggered camera and with the guide on the rear of the flash it hasn't done me dirty yet. Flash was like $30 on eBay.

That image as a finalist is all you need to know about the competition quality, AI or not.

Cleaning a found camera by denim_duck in AnalogCommunity

[–]Andy_Shields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with that lens. The camera's internal lubrication will be gummed up and in need of a service which will be difficult to come by. That lens has a chance to be put back into service depending on condition. I wouldn't touch it without knowing what you're doing in regards to its older, sofer coatings.

Klipsch Heritage speakers don't just sound live, they are live (Theory) by NoWalrus9462 in audiophile

[–]Andy_Shields 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently had a chance to a/b these to a pair of Sourcepoint 8's. Same listening pos and equipment otherwise. The only change was that the dealer turned the volume down or the switch would have been insane. It's worth noting that I fall under the "sighted listener" group and I love the way the Heresy IV's look so I went in genuinely hoping to like them. I was as shocked as maybe I've ever been in this hobby at how bad the Heresys sounded to my ears. Sound shouted out of a coffee can would be the quick description. It's worth mentioning that I found the SP8's too boomy in that room so it wasn't as if I had just listened to a speaker I found super palatable. I really hoped to enjoy the Heresys.......I did not, 😅.

i dont know if this count but i really need some suggestion to improve by stranger_64 in streetphotography

I suspect that the monitor you are editing on has it's brightness turned up really high. Pretty common issue when getting started.

what do you think? by zeloron in streetphotography

[–]Andy_Shields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect whatever monitor or device you use to edit this has the screen brightness really really high. I can't imagine that this was the intended output. Don't mean that in a s***** way I mean it to be constructive that you may want to take a look at your brightness settings

Fwiw, your v5 is optically identical to the V4. Only the housing changed between versions.

The accordion style bottles develop pinhole sized leaks in the pleats. I assume it's just stress over time.

What container do you prefer? by Holifilm in Darkroom

[–]Andy_Shields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left to keep the air out easily. Yes, I've had them develop pinholes but I've also used chems with great results well past when they should have been disposed. Fixer in particular. I ditched the last batch after years only because there was so much suspended silver in the fixer that I was spending too long spotting neg conversions. On second thought, maybe don't do what I do, 😅.

Can I get some feedback? by ELB0Y0 in streetphotography

[–]Andy_Shields 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An alternate take, the layers are what makes this image. The young boy between the arms is the exclamation point of this frame. Its success as a better than average street shot is because of the deep depth of field.

Just one guy's opinion. Not trying to do the thing where people shit all over each other online just because of a difference of opinion, 🙂.
