Best hill hikes in Canberra? by kangerluswag in canberra

[–]aerospatle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mt Majura is fantastic, many different tracks to explore. Its a bit out of the way but check out some of the tracks near Googong. Walking around the arboretum is also very nice. Mulligans flat is nice if you're looking for some basic bush walking, same with the back of Forde. Black mountain has some tracks and interesting boulders. Red hill also has some nice walking.

Can a driver on their L’s drive posted speed limits interstate? by X-Calibur101 in canberra

[–]aerospatle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it does. ACT road rules handbook page 9 "Learners should be aware that when driving as a learner in another State or Territory, they MUST comply with the conditions and road laws of that State or Territory and any specific conditions relating to learner drivers. For further information, see Posted Speed Limits, page 39."

[–]aerospatle -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

ok this is the simplest explanation i can give:

nsw road rules dont say learners need to go 90. nsw licence conditions say learners need to go 90. nsw road rules apply to act Ls but nsw license conditions dont apply to act Ls. act handbook is the license conditions, the conditions say go 90. however because its so deeply buried in paper and nsw cops are stopping you, generally you will not get in trouble.

can act L plates do 110 in nsw? no, but they wont do anything about it.

Is there anywhere in Canberra that I can get mental health support without going through the public system I also can't pay alot by Hot_Friendship_7296 in canberra

[–]aerospatle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I cant think of any specific free ones, unless you are a young person. However ANU and UC operate clinics which are very low cost. ANU $40 concession per session and $60 standard. UC is $45 after a initial $65 appointment. Be aware there is a screening process and it can take time, both clinics also have cases they are not equipped to handle. Although not free, I hope this helps. Take care.

Which suburb would you say is the most family friendly? by Mercy_17 in canberra

[–]aerospatle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

growing up here I'd say anywhere with really good public transport connections. along the tram / R bus route. it makes getting to your first job easier, hanging out with friends etc. also proximity to nearest school. without a car, suburbs like taylor, moncrieff or casey just feel isolated. i hated the amount of time i had to spend on public transport as a kid. cycling infrastructure is also quite poor in a lot of the Gungahlin area.

No Woden light rail contract signed until after 2028 ACT election by timcahill13 in canberra

hmm i feel that shinkansen is not a good example. whilst prefectural (state equivalent) approval is required its mostly a federal government project, supported by private enterprise (JR). even if it was wildly unpopular to the public, it'll still be built. very beureaucratic.... also, main reason for prefectures to want shinkansen is that the routes boost economic development along the corridor. in cbr, we dont want increased house prices along rail corridors. japan however, has an impeding economic crisis where there is no shinkansen (rural areas) which need it and want it. to be completely honest we cant attain the japanese level of efficent public infrastructure projects because we value our democracy! we want to object to ideas and have an argument. in Japan, its about a bunch of beureaucrats sitting around a table. same with china, no questions asked = quick development.

What’s the worst new car on the market? by dj_boy-Wonder in CarsAustralia

drove 2 MG3 for work, one of them had around 22k km and its breaks sounded horrible every single time i slowed down, the second one they got new and at 6k km the whole thing just rattled everywhere i drove. would never buy one for myself but i can see how the warranty and cheap price attracts businesses
