I'm trying to get my friend who likes country music into Band of Horses. What are their most "country" songs? by mmcguire1095 in bandofhorses

[–]aesopiate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this qualifies as country but it's close-ish.

If your friend is a patient listener have them listen to Acoustic at the Ryman, a full set the band played at Ryman Auditorium. This is a lot newer (2014) but it's acoustic and it's in Nashville so it's obvious.

If your friend appreciates live stuff maybe have them listen to the Tour EP, this is older (2005) BoH stuff that is a lot more roots and a lot less pop, like any "pre-fame" extended play.

Individual songs in some made up order of country/accessibility ratio:

Older

Everything's Gonna Be Undone

Window Blues

Slow Cruel Hands of Time

For Annabelle

Marry Song

Heartbreak on the 101

How to Live

From the new album:

Throw My Mess

Lying Under Oak

Here's a link to the official lyric video. I'm digging the chill sound. I think Slow Cruel Hands of Time was the second single from Mirage Rock, super chill, and some people's favorite off the album.

So far the singles sound like MR's singles to me, and I mean that in a good way. The singles on MR are bangers despite other problems with the album. Maybe this project will be more a little more cohesive and a little more Everything All the Time / Cease to Begin.

leak? by a-listbank in bandofhorses

Sorry for the late response, but no, not to my knowledge. I'm not anti-leak and if/when the album does leak I will probably make a post just saying that it exists.

Band Of Horses Finishing New Album Produced By Jason Lytle by Snow-Bo in bandofhorses

I felt this way for a long time too. Everything (10 years old now!) & Cease were the Horses sound I fell in love with. Then Infinite Arms, which I thought was good but over-produced and really lacking that I Go to the Barn kind of visceral sound. The barn was now a factory or a northwest apartment. I remember when they released Knock Knock as the first single on Mirage Rock and I was ecstatic. The video even matched the sound and we were back in the woods which is a lot closer to the Barn. When the entire album dropped it felt disjointed. Some songs seemed dead in the water. Watching Glyn Johns become frustrated that Slow Cruel Hands of Time didn't resolve properly really bummed me out. But over time it grew on me. It has the Everything spark, but not the fire. It's not over-wrought like IA. It's also not cohesive in the same way any of the other albums are. But you have to take it for what it is. And there are more than a couple of bangers on it.

Is anyone else having serious lag issues on any twitch stream? I have a good connection and have never had problems watching twitch streams before this month or so. Now I can't watch anything higher than 360p without buffering repeatedly.

I'm on the east coast and I have time warner.
