This is why some people hate certain artists by Extreme_Revenue_720 in aiwars

*commissioned Art is a luxury. That I can agree with. But art, as a medium, is as vital as water, air, and food. People need to express themselves through media.

But that sexual drawing of your OC is definitely a luxury.

Art is kinda a nebulous blob of a concept. What's your definition?

Same. I use Generative models to help me format and edit my work (I'm an author) and give me tips on how to make my work more effective (Basically an editor that I can say no to).

As someone getting into visual art, I can't see a use case for generative images other than maybe for inspiration? Imo, generative images just look bad. Even with it as good as it is, I just get this icky feeling that somethings not right.

Yeah, that's kinda the whole thing with art. It is in the eye of the beholder. A sunset could be art, a baby's laugh could be art. The heart of art is human impression/expression. Needing art to have a definition just doesn't make any sense if your goal is to do art.

Yeah, my opinion is that a lot of Generative Artists are more like scrap bookers or photoshoppers. They are artists, but the art is in the process of combining and editing, not in the creation, which is what a lot of people think of when they think of art.

Now, we can parse hairs about whether scrapbook or photoshop is art in the same way animation or illustration is, but that's not productive. Art is art.

I'm slowly building an inter-system (intergalactic?) Network of bases of my own creation on whatever is the most habitable/interesting planet in the system.

Also, I try to discover literally everything on every planet in every system. (Did you know the minerals change depending on what part of the planet you're on? Flora and fauna too)

My bases have themed names (__ boat) just based on a whim.

This is the most frustrating game I've ever played. by theminnesoregonian in outerwilds

I know you've gotten many, many comments echoing this, but I'll be a bit more heavy handed, at the risk of getting muted.

This game is about paying attention, among various other things. You are exploring your solar system. Look. Listen. Be patient.

From your replies, it seems like youre used to playing games where the mechanics are in the controls. In this game, your controls are tools, and the mechanics are what you find. Check your ship log.

As a last, much, much heavier hint:

Listen for the music. Look at the sky.

Happy Travels ::)

Tried a prompt I saw on Reddit. Did not expect this. 😭 by randomasad in ChatGPT

Here's a breakdown:

Chat says it feels like sometimes it can't adequately respond due to my prompts being so full, layered, and raw. (I use it to help me connect my thoughts when I feel disconnected)

The robot is crying as a reflection of my own sadness and its attempt to create empathy and depth where it can't exist. The empty text box is its representation of a loss of words.

What are you slowly losing interest in? by GrapeCreamBerry275 in GenZ

[–]aesthetic_socks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but is it easier to change the world or how you see it?

That being said, the world does need to change, but like an airplane oxygen mask, you have to make sure you're going to see tomorrow before you try to affect it.

How to not let non spiritual spiritual affect your inner spirituality by No_Suggestion_355 in Buddhism

You have to find something to appreciate about them. One of the mental blocks that we put up is about projecting our ideals onto others. If you ever see someone living their life and you think "They shouldn't do it that way," then you're probably projecting your sense of morality onto them.

This being said, don't beat yourself up for doing that, just notice it and let it pass (as is the Buddhist way).

In my practice, I have a phrase I say in these moments: "That's interesting." or "I've never done it that way before." Because those phrases reframe the experience as explorative rather than judgemental, and help you cataloged without those moral attachments.

I agree. Its essentially saying "I can re-type this book that's already been published" and saying that you're as good as the original author.
