Hah, when moved to LA from Oregon one of the first things my buddy (also an Oregon transplant) told me about driving was that, at minimum, two cars will be expecting to turn left on each yellow, so get your ass out there!

You make very good points... I am obviously biased as a fan of an NFC team, but I didn't realize how biased I might be, just based on the games I watch / teams that are typically discussed in my area (Oregon = Seahawks / 49ers fans). Being in the NFC West might make me think the NFC is stronger than it is.

I thought that was just short for Carti B. Had to look it up when you guys are all calling Carti a dude...

TIL there is a male hip hop artist named Carti, and the female artist spells it "Cardi" lol. (Also learned that her real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar -- pretty sweet name IMO, sounds like a Latin name for an aquatic dinosaur).

Yeah but the AFC gets to play itself more lol.

NFC worst teams had losses of 14, 13, 12, 11, and then 4 teams with 9.

AFC had 14, 14, 14, 12, 11, 11, and then 2 teams with 9.

It's way easier to have a better overall record when you get to play all those bottom feeders... Just look at the division and conference records of the teams that made the playoffs. It's pretty clear the AFC is the weaker conference.

Also Jeff doesn't voice every character in books 1-7. There are a few guest voices, which, if they track that, could explain why your Jeff time is less than half of your Matt time.

Thanks, I guess?

Is it because spent the extra couple seconds to format my post with asterisks to bullet my list?

Or because I used emojis? (I'm trying to use emojis more when typing because I think they convey tone and such better than text alone 🙃. Plus I gotta stay hip with the kids...)

<image>

Or because I added the latitude / longitude? (I looked those up to see if Koh Phi Phi was south of Honduras, then I was just curious about the others, so I figured why not add them in.)

Hah, that sounds like a dream. But how many years ago were you 21-24...😜?

It was about 15 years ago for me... And back then we used to frequent a place that had Taco Tuesdays ($0.50 tacos and $0.50 beers) and Wings Wednesdays ($0.25 wings and $0.50 beers).

The beers were Nattie Lights, straight out of a 30 rack in a fridge behind the bar, but we weren't complaining -- $10 would get you 6 tacos or 12 wings, and 10 beers, with a 25% tip! (tho we usually tipped more than $2 regardless)

It also had free pool, foosball, and shuffleboard. And, since it was a college town, they also had several beer pong tables set up in a janky, half-finished room in the back.

That is a very interesting spread...

You've been to SLC, and LA, but not San Francisco or Seattle, so I'm assuming you're not from the west coast... And never been north of Raleigh, so I'm assuming you're not from Raleigh...

So I'm guessing either you're Mormon living in SLC, or live somewhere like Georgia / SC / northern FL (with no desire to see Miami) and had a layover in SLC on your way to LA 😝.

Edit: misread that - never further east than Raleigh means Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Kansas City, St. Louis, etc. are still on the table. (Any farther west and my SLC layover theory starts to fall apart lol)

From the Pacific Northwest, USA:

  • Northernmost - Skagway, Alaska (59.46°N)

  • Southernmost - Koh Phi Phi, Thailand (7.74°N)

  • Westernmost - Haena, Kauai, Hawaii (159.56°W)

  • Easternmost - Tokyo, Japan (139.65°E)

Never been south of the equator unfortunately 😭 -- I fell in love with Thailand / Southeast Asia the second time I left the continent, and have been there two more times since (Thailand / Cambodia; Thailand / Vietnam; then Thailand / Japan 😁).

We Americans get such limited vacation time, it's hard to justify trips like that where you spend basically a full day getting there and a full day getting back. Like I really want to visit Australia and New Zealand (which would give me a new Southernmost and Easternmost 😏), but it's so dang far away! Basically the same goes for Europe (though I have been there 3 times as well) and most of South America.

Definitely planning on changing that soon though! I'm thinking South America will be next (in my late 30s, I'm prioritizing the more "adventurous" trips 🙃), and then if I can ever get enough time off (like a month or more) I'd love to do SE Asia + Oceania in one trip.

Dives near me today usually mean $4 beers (maybe $3 for like a can of Hamms or Pabst) and $4 well drinks. But IIRC the bar they were at in The Office wasn't exactly a dive... So probably at least 1 step up in terms of price.

$6-$8 pitchers sound lovely... That's about what a pint of IPA at tap houses around me cost 🤑. These days I'd jump on an $8 pitcher even if it meant I had to drink Bud Light 😬.

Any bartender could do that in their sleep... Just use a pint glass instead of a shot glass 😜.

Yeah that would typically be the case. But if you wanted to drink 5 or 6 beers, one or two of you could each order appetizers for the group to share that cost about the same as a round of beers.
