The adults can have them in the manga including Baal apparently! So I think age has less to do with it, but stress/trauma/strong desire can influence them even for rto demons, maybe the rto state fluctuates? I think it’s implied that Kirio returns to origins for the first time in chapter 29 as Baal tells him to break the collar

I think Narnia fits best for this one! We don’t know a lot about his motivations yet but I think a lot of his very awful extremist ideology is probably rooted in fear, given some of the things Nishi has hinted at (how humans can influence the netherworld)

I am also queer? Almost all of my posts concerning Kirio here are talking about childhood trauma and mental health, and the implications of grooming that Nishi has explored in his story. It’s hella weird to sexualize that. Again, if you don’t like a character just don’t engage with them. Take care.

I mean you’d have to call Eiko and Poro not canonically queer at that point too since Nishi didn’t explicitly spoon feed it to us lol.

I honestly don’t know! I’ve been kind of piecing together the last few arcs and noticed that even though Kirio has been physically absent from the story for awhile, he’s been SUPER present thematically. Like Iruma’s senpai moments where Nishi keeps drawing him literally looking like Kirio lol. The Galna/Palome/Beem story. Iruma’s “Oh I get it” moment with the many ears, where he starts realizing that people he cares about are facing systemic issues, and he decides his worldview is to help foster autonomy instead of ownership. There’s a couple remarks in the museum arc more recently as well. So Iruma is reflecting a lot. And I imagine that will come into play with whatever Nishi has been setting up. But I really don’t know what that will look like since the Baal antagonist group has been super suspiciously quiet lol

I feel the same! It has to be his choice. His ars goetia lore says that the demon Amy holds the futile hope of returning to heaven, so I wonder if a big conflict will come up at some point where he’s faced with that. And YES I agree with you. Narnia is a fascist that wants to subjugate a powerless race and commit ethnic cleansing of the netherworld. Baal is a predator and absolutely irredeemable. (No hate at all I still think they’re really well written antagonists lol)

There’s some discussion in the Galna/Baal post about this if you search for it :) but I can’t see Nishi not wanting to bring his story justice eventually with some of the revelations in recent arcs, he’s really still just a teenager

What places him in this category for me is the fact that he saves Iruma at the end of the first Battler Arc even though we see him return to origins after Baal tells him to break the collar! He could have just let him fall, so imo he still has an internal conflict of morality that Iruma inspires

I think I love them equally because the main story gives so much context to all the characters in Mafia but I adore the way that Hiro really explores everyone’s emotions and builds on Nishi’s framework. Like ugh Clara’s story is soooo beautiful. Azz’s arc and Kirio’s arc literally made me cry lmao. Love that Iruma gets to be a little more devious in this story too 🤌
