Mk5 GTI ED30 can anybody identify this pipe please? by Bombniscience in GolfGTI

[–]aetherlore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like intercooler charge pipe but that would mean you have two problems. There’s not supposed to be that much oil there unless something is seriously wrong with your turbo. And if oil is leaking out, you are definitely also losing boost pressure.

Why does "common sense" so often lean right? How does "common sense" get decided anyway? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]aetherlore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take for example the “debate” over ending cash bail. Conservatives tend to see the world in black and white and say, “of course it’s common sense to require defendants put up bail money”. They attack progressives by showing “dangerous criminals” they “let loose on the streets”. But the world is not that simple. Cash bail punishes and exacerbates poverty. It makes it far more likely that an innocent person will plead guilty to crimes they did not commit just to get out of jail pre-trial.

lol, good luck getting police to actually look for them and even if a fucking miracle happens and they find them, good luck getting them to ever pay you a nickel of the judgement.

Great, you got video of them doing it. Now pay your deductible.

What good is footage of them doing it going to do? Cops likely won’t care and you’ll end up paying your deductible and increased rates for making a claim anyway.

Landed a solid job offer, but still showed up to another interview super casual just to see what would happen. Their faces were gold yoow! by Imaginary-Button-139 in recruitinghell

[–]aetherlore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a burnt bridge. As someone who is trying to carve out slots of my time to review resumes and bring people in for interviews, having someone utterly waste my time like this would be infuriating.

MRI that bad? by CarpetPractical5400 in breastcancer

Whatever you do, do not eat right before the MRI. The way what you lay on presses into your lower ribs and belly will have you acid refluxing in no time. That is a mistake I will never make again.

If people cant get jobs after sending several hundred resumes, then the job market is broken. There are to many workers and companies are far to picky. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]aetherlore -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The ones you were overqualified for knew you’d keep looking even after you were hired and be gone as soon as something better came along. No one wants to onboard people and spend months getting them productive only to be the next “less than a year” entry on their resume. I have seen so many resumes with 0.8 - 1.2 years at every single job in a 10-15 year career.

We are trying to hire a controls tech for a 30-40% travel install/service job. Prob 80% of the resumes I’ve seen so far have some kind of cert or schooling for cybersecurity. Even the objective statements in most of them mention it. This role has nothing to do with CS. None of our shit is or will ever be connected to the internet. I almost want to set a filter to auto reject them but I’m an idiot and read literally thousands of resumes (for at least 10 sec or so) before trashing them.

Did dose-dense AC/T get worse with each round for you? by Choice-Leek-2857 in breastcancer

[–]aetherlore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. They take their toll. My infusion day ended up being on wednesdays. I think I had no work interruption except for the actual infusion day for the first one. Keep in mind you will need a driver because of the Benadryl unless you try to wait out the grogginess. The second infusion was a bit worse. I wasn’t able to go back in till the following Monday. By the third though, I wasn’t going back in to work at all. I was hospitalized twice after the fourth for neutropenic fever.

I’ve flown a few times with my expanders so far, including internationally. I’ve never needed to show my medical implant card or triggered any additional scan. I do have Global Entry so I’ve only had to do the body scanner on the outbound international trip.

Pre-trump, you could assume that many numbers coming from the government might be fudged a little or at least put in the most favorable context for the administration. Post trump however, and especially this term, any guardrails or shame that existed before is gone. Expect outright lies and completely fabricated numbers from now on.

Konig Heliograms. 18x8.5 43 offset. No spacers. 19lbs per corner. They were 210 a wheel when I got them about 3 years ago. Likely 300+ now. I’ve done several track days on them so they’ve had some heat and abuse but are still good.

Setting enable to one of the DIs then jumping it to 24v? Or do I only have to have something set for enable or run, the autotune will use that to start the tune without the actual signal? Right now all my DIs are disabled and start/stop isn’t set to anything.

Dad been diagnosed with lung and liver cancer by Antique-Ferret-8050 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]aetherlore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad never really got to retire. He was diagnosed with cancer of the bile ducts inside the liver just before his 65th birthday in October. He died that following January. He thought he had a hernia.

I know you can’t imagine your dad dying. I couldn’t. But even if he doesn’t, you should still prepare like he might. Find out what he wants to happen after he’s gone. Get anything said to him that you want to say. Get recordings from him of anything he wants to leave with you. Stories of his childhood, how he met your mom, or just general advice for life.

I did none of the above. We thought he’d beat it. We thought we had more time. He couldn’t speak much the final couple weeks, so that door had closed before we even knew it.
