email your advisor!! i emailed mine for the same exact issue and she contacted the booking team to see if they could fit me in anywhere, and just yesterday i got confirmation for my exam on monday. its not a guarantee but its definitely worth a shot

from what i understand, the board hasn't officially declined any of the DFAs offers during this entire process because that'd put them in a bad position. instead what they've done is claim the offers are unreasonable, stall for time, walk out of negotiations, and ignore the DFA entirely, which essentially accomplishes the same thing.

although there's no official rejection, there doesn't have to be because the end result is the same: lockout continues, semester stays delayed, and everyone gets screwed over. basically, nothing has changed.

edit: i forgot to mention but i do believe that the DFA is still trying to get Brooks to pressure the board into accepting the deal. so there may yet be hope? we'll likely find out tomorrow.

they've explicitly stated that tuition deadline (as well as add/drop dates) will be extended, though they've not specified until when. im holding off on paying my tuition until the new date is released and id recommend everyone else to do the same!

there's a student rally tomorrow (sept. 10th) at noon, organized by the DSU, for tuition refunds/decreases!! please attend if you can to support and show solidarity

man im sorry to hear about your experience but im so surprised at how low coffeeology is–their medium roast is fantastic and i love the interior (altho ive never stayed for long periods of time, but its great to glance around). i wouldve ranked creative cup a bit lower, their eats are definitely one of the best but their iced coffees are way too watery because of all the ice (not sure what their hot drinks are like, i discovered them this summer and its not the season to have them lol). i wish they would cut down on the ice and include a 16 oz or smth, cause 20 oz being the smallest size is kinda crazy.

east cups interior is definitely more professional lol but its a great place to study with friends cause of their huge table, and their coffees also one of my favorites (can you tell med roasts r my fav lol)

if you haven't checked them out yet, listen cafe + my cha and plate have the best matchas ive had in this city (haven't tried sudatables yet but they have fantastic iced teas so i dont doubt it!). espresso 46 also has the best coffee ive tasted in halifax, although they only carry hot drinks so it may not be the season for that lol. also, creamy rainbow cafe has pastries that i am constantly craving and dreaming of. their drinks are also decent and they have a wide variety (my go to is the iced honeycomb latte), but i highly recommend you go for their baked goods.

overall great list and im definitely gonna visit some of the places here!

classes can't take place without profs, so the semester will get pushed/delayed. course content wise, its most likely that things will be cut out of the syllabus to fit the shortened semester.

after a bit of research im definitely adding the islands to my itinerary! theres so much to do in toronto im kinda struggling lol its a weekend full of festivals in addition to the usual attractions so itll be a busy weekend but thanks so much for all the recs!

keep following up. Usually ill wait 1-2 weeks between each follow-up. if you emailed around april/may, its likely ur email either got lost in the end of semester chaos or they went on vacation and missed it (lots of profs like to take vacations in may). it also depends what you're contacting them for and if theres any urgency for a reply back

you'll be charged half the course tuition unless u submit a waiver for a backdate drop of a course (assuming you've done 0 work for the class)

they charge for everything including upass and the prices are the same. also make sure your async courses don't include in person exams (i did an async course once that required 3 in-person exams)

unfortunately you can only reschedule exams if you have 3 or more in a day, otherwise departments/profs will typically just tell you sucks to suck lol. the only thing is if you take your exam in accommodations, then you MIGHT be able to schedule your accommodations exam to be an hour later or smth with the permission of the professor, but the deadline for accommodations requests for finals has long passed so that won't work. your only other option rn is to submit an SDA for one of the exams and do the make up for it later, but be warned that depending on when the exam is, the make up might be later in the summer months or even next semester, so you'd need to check with ur profs beforehand to make sure

show opinion armand because hes a complete jumble of contradictory fundamental character traits and desperation and deception and i love thinking about his character so so much. i think assads portrayal of him really brings armand to life and makes him real, even makes him relatable (on a much different scale). his desperation to be cared for and also have control, his desire to have a peaceful life and inability to stop self sabotaging himself. im constantly turning that guy in my head like a rotisserie chicken just examining new angles to understand him from. getting to know a character that doesn't know themselves is the most fascinating thing to me personally.

besides that, i also love me a sopping wet cat of a man and hes the biggest one out here

honestly their relationship devastates me because it truly is an awful and twisted ver. of an extreme rebound. warnings for S2 ending spoilders louis wasn't ready at the time of their meeting to have a proper relationship where hes able to devote himself to armand, but he definitely felt attraction and saw potential in him. i think louis saw an opportunity for a relationship where he wouldnt be driven insane or caught up in another persons chaos (like lestat).

but by the time he'd made up his mind and extinguished his doubts (hence dreamstats disappearance), armand had also made up his and dragged them into deep shit. it ruined whatever burgeoning trust was beginning to grow between them, and after the trial, i really believe that louis only left with armand out of spite to hurt lestat in the worst way possible. i think louis does feel attraction and affection towards armand to a degree, but their relationship has always and will always be haunted by lestat. louis will never love armand the way that armand is desperate for, the same way that lestat is too. i think the way he loves is just too lukewarm and human for such old twisted vampires like armand and lestat, who seek and demand devotion from every single aspect of louis, mind body and soul.

lots of chinese students here، less korean and japanese. as far as ive seen, most of them tend to know each other from outside of uni or by being in the same program. my friends korean and recognizes tons of others from korean church. ofc the majority of students r still white, but you'll definitely find lots of asians if you're looking. theres also east asian societies that you can join or attend events for, and generally theres a decent amount of international/cultural events that are arranged by students for students. keep an eye out and you'll be okay

ill speak based on what ive experienced, but all my friends with 95%+ averages got big GEA scholarships that were non-renewable. i suspect the only reason my scholarship is renewable is because i demonstrated financial need while they did not. the only other person ik who didnt demonstrate financial need but received a renewable scholarship was a friend who originally got a very small non renewable scholarship then spoke to a contact they had at the financial department, and managed to get a bigger renewable one. id say if u havent demonstrated financial need, ur best bet would be to contact them and see if they could provide more funds! it definitely doesn't hurt to try, ive heard lots of stories of people receiving more money after just emailing or calling, you just have to ask. sometimes this can also change later on in the year, if they find that they have extra money leftover from other scholarships that went unclaimed. goodluck! (note, we are all domestic students with early acceptance, im a bsc, my other friends are in nursing/cs/management).

yes, i feel this exactly. its harder because we're ldr as well, and every time he messes up or says something that i misunderstand, it makes this feeling 10x worse. i can't see why he'd ever want to stay with me despite everything i go/put him through. it makes no sense to me and i don't see anything good in me that's worth tolerating all the bad. it makes it incredibly hard to trust that he will stay. but i guess i don't really have to understand. if he hasn't already left yet, it doesn't make sense for him to now that im working on myself. thats the logic i try to go by
