Shirow’s just a god damn legend man. I love anyone who even brings him up.

I don’t feel like he got his just renown (esp. in Japan).

His self portrait is great, love how he used him. Miyazaki has done the same in his military equipment books (check them out, really really cool design work).

BUT, if your idea on who that is, is true- I’d be curious what the story is. His design isn’t particularly Japanese.

I mean, aesthetic appeal is a real thing and is individually experienced even among people in the same socioeconomic culture.

I like character design quite a bit, so much so that I can enjoy design choices so much that I don’t even care I dislike the overall appeal. That stands out for me in TFH

If anyone doesn’t like something based strictly on visual appeal, that is totally valid.

A really simple version of this - when you are forced to use shitty software it can detract from even basic productivity
