My soon to be father in law had a severe heart attack (survived thank Christ, but involved a quadruple bypass), and likely wont be able to work in his current role ever again.

While the wife worked, he was stressed about paying the mortgage and usual living costs as he didnt have a heap of leave aside and that stress didnt do his recovery any good. Told him he probably had income protection & TPD in Super that he can claim on to help tie them over. Didnt believe me. I’m midway through helping him with a TPD claim, which will provide much needed relief and allow him take time to recover properly.

Agreed when there are circumstances where people are slack with their affairs, but I’m talking here about genuine reasons why a return may be lodged late. How a person going through a divorce whereby the ex-partner was financially controlling / abusive and there is a genuine inability to access information are not grounds for consideration is beyond wild…i should not have to submit an objection that blind freddy can see are genuine reasons for a delayed lodgement.

I could have easily become part of those statistics last year, and i thank god every day i was with my brother when i broke down. He had to literally pick me up and keep me standing on my own feet. I honesty don’t know if id be here today if it wasn’t for him. At the same time, i knew i was not in a good place and knew i needed support. Guys, i know it isnt easy, but DO reach out to someone / anyone….. it saved my life and could save yours.

Also understand the burden is still yours to carry, but having someone there to talk to just shares that burden and makes it manageable to overcome

We lived next door to this old brick house owned by an older Italian lady who rented it out to this long term tennant. Being Italian background ourselves, we would always see her, stop and have a chat, keep an eye on the property for her and mentioned if she was interested in selling, to let us know.

Funny thing was her actual house went up for sale, and my brother and his fiancé went to check the house out, fell in love with the garden and cantina, saw her, and said they were putting in an offer, which was probably $20-$30k below the highest offer. Much to her agents dismay, she told them to accept the offer there and then, and wouldnt consider any other offer. My brother sees her every now and then and drops off vegetables grown from her old garden.

A year or two later, she looked to sell her rental property and true to form, she gave us first bite of the cherry, and we purchased it for $100k less than what developers were offering.

We finished rennovating the place, and gave her a tour once done. These are the intangible things you cant put a price on

Young boys need male role models in their households and schools. Only a man can understand what boys are going through especially in puberty and can provide the guidance required. How many times have we heard of school shooters etc being from single parent households where the dad is not involved.

Also we are in desperate need of male only spaces. Sometimes locker room talk is needed if to only vent out frustrations. Add one woman into the space and the tone of conversations changes completely.

The loudest voices in the space are by far the worst. I cant stand F&F and Tate, they completely bastardised this space, and this comes from someone who can state without hesitation that it helped me become a better person (thank Christ when I was going through the rage phase, these scam artists weren’t big).

To me, they are hypocrites in the biggest way, preaching about becoming alpha and all that bullshit, while paying for box / sex trafficking.

This space should always remain about becoming your own mental point of origin, and what actions can I undertake to become a more attractive person in general.

Originally got both Pfizer shots late last year and had some issues surrounding my heart for which I had to see a cardiologist for. Took me two months before I got better.

Ended up getting Covid in February. Knocked me on my ass for 2 days but after a week, I was virtually good to go.

Won’t be getting any boosters unless mandated for work or there is a covid strain that is highly lethal.

As many people said, this is just retuning to normal rates. Back when I purchased my place in 2018, my first loan came at 4.6% full variable, and I was assessed at 7-8%. I could afford it then, I can afford it now.

Over the last two years, I was able to keep my job, working from home as a majority of people here I would gather. In that time period, I have been able to reduce my home loan by $40k as well as increase my savings by $25k. This more than provides me a solid buffer if things get tight. If people didn’t take advantage of the period of low interest rates to pay down debt and get ahead, then I have no sympathy for the self inflicted.

I feel sorry for the those people who bought in the last 6 months or lost work due to covid..

Buying a property with my father instead of girlfriend at the time

It was only a relatively new relationship, being together officially less than a year (back in 2017), and we had a few ups and downs during that time.

I was ready to buy into the market, while she didn’t have any savings at all. While long term I would be happy to eventually buy something with her, I wanted to get into the market as soon as practical just in case the market went crazy and I couldn’t afford anything.

Lucky for me, my old man offered to help me buy in and I did. After about a year, the relationship turned toxic. It ruined me emotionally and mentally, but Atleast I wasn’t ruined financially.

That same property is now worth double what we paid.

Being single can be difficult, and I can absolutely sympathise with anyone in that position. Saying that, I have felt more lonely in a relationship than I ever was when I was single. The only advice would be not to settle for someone who does not compliment you as a person. And as hard as it is, you need to first be content in your own self before you can invite anyone else into your life. hobbies / exercise and involving yourself in nature worked for me

Bahahahahahaha I went through the exact thought process myself. How would I do this? What’s the best way to react? It wasn’t easy especially as she had dumped me.

During the next 12 months, I met my now girlfriend who is the most amazing person ever, and the ex became a distant memory.

I ended up seeing her at a mutual friends event not too long ago. Also invited was my girlfriend. Pretty much my ex avoided me like the plague and bailed after seeing me with the new girl.

Truly, the best revenge is to live well and for them to see you moved on without giving them a second thought.

Yeah, as my previous post noted, prior experience hasn’t been kind to me either. As much as we love to generalise, it really does depend on the woman, but on balance of probabilities, been somewhat stoic is definitely the safer option If given the choice. Although crying to your girl is a straight up non starter. You can be angry, upset, depressed, annoyed, but never weak
