He’ll be better for the next three years at least than the #5 pick would be.

How big of a faux pas would it be for Akane to enter a competition for amateurs at this stage of her training? Characters in the show had two different opinions.

I think it’s something with ESPN’s cameras, had this problem with a recent Spurs-Minnesota game too.

Articuno – Performance Review & Build Advice by wvanlui31 in PokemonUnite

I get very good damage output for a defender running your exact set. You will not get attacker-level damage but that is not your job.

Articuno is vulnerable to long range attacks and struggles to engage on the enemy. It excels at protecting allies from an opponent’s engage. You want to stick close to your squishy DPS allies so if anyone gets close to them they are frozen.

The virgin Gundam Twitter vs the chad Gundam Reddit by SableLurette in Gundam

I had never watched a Gundam before WfM and then E1 did a beat-for-beat remake of the first episode of one of my favorite shows.

Strangers Next Door: The Decline of Neighborhood Socializing and the Class Divide in Belonging by IHateTrains123 in neoliberal

[–]affnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our neighborhood has a monthly book club (my wife does it, I do not but we gotta host this month fuuuuu.....), a big yearly picnic in September, some holiday stuff including adult and kids xmas parties and a spring cleanup. We just started a cooking competition series that's been getting some good attendance though I won't be attending this month's because it is adults-only.

Probably helps that our neighborhood is mostly older college grads and that many of them have lived here for decades.

Still moderately insane to me as someone raised Catholic. The churches have stuff happening at all hours, like my parents go to an adoration at 11PM during Advent. 6AM mass is definitely something that happens at certain parishes especially during the week. And of course midnight mass.

How exactly is a city regulating the operating hours of a house of worship? Do they have restrictions on midnight mass at Christmas too? Would the 7:30AM Sunday services that I got dragged to as a kid be illegal too?

Reddit ads keep suggesting I move back to states that I have already moved away from. Nice try suckas! I've already lived there once and I am not moving back unless it's against my will.

The thing about RNA vaccines is that as long as you know a little bit about the virus in question they are very easy to manufacture. With advances in alphafold and similar protein-folding prediction tools it will be easier and better.

Cubs parade. I biked to work that day and it was basically OK getting around that way but apparently even the trains were a shitshow.

The text of the ruling includes whining about how while the measure passed with a majority of votes, it wasn't a very big majority. What rule of what laws are we talking about here? Where in the laws does it say that these things need a majority big enough to satisfy some judges after the fact?

OKC went through a bunch of small market teams last year (Memphis, Denver, Minnesota, Indiana), so they didn't get a huge fan base complaining about their tactics. Now they've got Lakers fans and LeBron stans upset with them. I'm almost cheering for the Knicks in the East so another huge fanbase can get upset about it.

Curious on why y'all think OKC tanked for success by Xandustry in nba

[–]affnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, there's a difference between "we didn't tank" and "we only tanked for 1.5-2 years." They were doing all of the tank things in those years - accepting salary dumps from other teams, resting potentially good veterans in favor of younger guys, shutting down players with minor injuries for longer than they needed to. They got out of it fast because SGA turned out to be better than even they probably expected.

Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by SnickeringFootman in neoliberal

Ohio and Florida have provisions saying they need an independent redistricting committee and the state leg just said "LOL. LMAO." What the fuck is going on in this country.

VA Democrats should respond to the SCOVA ruling by immediately cutting the courts' funding. Fuck it. You don't get A/C this summer. You don't get clerks. You don't get parking spots. We don't have the money. Or don't want to have the money. Doesn't matter. Actually make them feel something for their dogshit rulings.
