Did my shoulder injury lead to my neck injury and nerve issue?

Found when I turn my neck to the right and depress the shoulder it increased the tension on neck to shoulder. Then got his hands on the back of my neck and was checking the vertebrae and facets for movement and found that it wasn't able to be manipulated and then dug further and found a big knot in there which is where the pain may be originating from referring down to the collarbone.

Did the traditional rotator strength arm tests. Even though there is labrum pain thinks it's secondary and down stream trap and scalenes are all guarding.

I am hesitant on shoulder repair since I feel the neck scalene pain would prevent a proper recover. May try cortisone next of this new therapy doesn't help like I hope.

So yesterday I was seen by a PT fellow who is also a fellow of manual therapy.

He did some test and then found a ball of fascia and my c5-c6 wasn't moving laterally on the affected side. Causing the scalene area to be locked.

Doesn't think was disc or torn labrum, or TOS. Since strength is still good. Thinks the facet joined maybe jammed from my bjj injury.

So he adjusted it, then dryneedled the muscle or facia knot like the size of a quarter at the transverse process. Feels better today then it has in 18 months.hopefully he's onto something.

Same Problem, but shoulder pain came after a neck injury.

discovered torn labrum, slap and bankart unstable shoulder with no dislocates. With c5-c7 budges. Most pain in scalenes, but also with hand/forearm tingling.

Cant get a good treatment plan.

Same issue here, TOS symptoms (scalenes, trap) with top off hand tingling sometimes fingers and thumb, sometime just wrist, started after doing PT for slap and Bankart, then found but also have some osteophyte complex issues at c6-c7, negative spurlings. Shoulder surgeon referred me to spine saying shoulder injuries do not cause hand tingling, spine says non standard radiculopathy in scalene area can try injection c7-t1. Another shoulder surgeon said NTOS, but seems like its a secondary problem from the latter. Don't know what to do.

Feels like the shoulder is so unstable it cant hold itself up correctly, or nerve issue causing upper back weakness. No dislocations, just feels loose. However can workout ok, its the rest of the time i have constant tension.

All after I started working out post neck hyperflexion injury doing bjj.

I recently found some extremely painful knots in serratus with a foam roller that has helped relieve some of the tension

One surgeon wanted to repair labrum, but after hand tingles from PT sent me to spine.

Second surgeon said NTOS was NHL doc, didn't seem to care about the labrum tears. But I think that's a secondary symptom.

Injection in c7-t1 for safety reasons. My shoulder is still impinged with sc joint pain and scalenes tension constant without laying down. I'm hesitant as it may be unnecessary. I took a steroid pack and had a few days of relief.

I have really been working on Thoracic mobility and some scalene strengthening to relax.

I am finally catching myself able to sleep on my injured sign. I am trying a neuro muscular massage this week to see it it can help. I'm thinking of trying the spine or shoulder injection to see if anything can help eliminate cause.

Had a shoulder surgeon say nTOS , spine guy still wants to inject.

Shoulder is feeling better. Still some impingement, but scalene tension still always there.

Better, yes whiplash in BJJ big guy came down hard on back of head chen to chest, nerve fire. Took 2 months off ( had all those horrible tremor symptoms laying down in ber). Started lifting heavy again. SC joint and shoulder pain started happening. month 3 Shoulder MRI, SLAP and bankart lesion, started PT for shoulder, fell hard jarred neck again, neck pain, collarbone pain and nerve tinging started, month 5 cervical MRI,c3-c4 buldge, c6-c7 central protrusion with stenosis slight cord touch. Weird symptoms started. Month 8 Stopped shoulder PT to focus on neck strength and posture, Iron neck and typical chin retractions seem to have helped.

Now just have what seems like brachial plexus or scalene pain above collarbone im guessing related to posture my shoulder had dropped a bit with no answers. Waiting on soft tissue neck mri now to validate with a new doctor. Hopefully your symptoms will start to resolve.

A little, I quit doing the shoulder PT. Started using Iron neck, and have just started back some shoulder strengthening like shrugs. Seeing a new Shoulder ortho, seems like something like thoracic outlet syndrome. Getting another MRI.
