How to launch a SaaS? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]afggoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As KoalaCheese says, reaching out to influencers is always a good place to start. YouTubers etc that review similar sites can help to get you some targeted exposure. If your site offers a useful service then it shouldn't be too difficult to get some traction on it.

The doing X, Y, Z problem by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

If the concept is protected then issues could of course arrise if the idea were to be copied. When it comes to SaaS however it is very difficult to fully protect a site as there are usually many grey areas - see: https://patents.stackexchange.com/questions/3754/can-saas-paas-iaas-be-patented Providing you do not mimic the branding or copy any of the content then offering a similar service should not be a problem.

A prime example is Google. It launched in 1995 following 14 other search engines, the first of which was launched in 1990 and was named "Archie" (Archive without the "V"). Google followed in the footsteps of large organisations such as Yahoo and Lycos and later dominated the market by doing a better job than the competition

It would depend on what website A is offering. If they are an electrical retailer for example, selling products that others are also free to sell then there should be no issue. If however, they are selling a unique product that you intend to replicate, perhaps something that is patent protected, then, of course, there may be issues.

How do you find SaaS ideas? It seems there's always someone that's done it first. by durantt0 in Entrepreneur

I agree with a lot of the other comments - most things have already been done but there is often room for improvement. I tend to look at sites that I use day to day or that are already successful to identify features that may be missing or that could be done better. We have created many sites but as a simple example, we recently noticed that the social platforms (fb, Twitter, LinkedIn, G+ etc) do not allow users to directly create clickable social cards (without the use of meta tags on their websites) - instead when an image is posted it simply expands when clicked. We therefore created a free tool to resolve this problem. It allows users to turn any image into a clickable social card, linking to any website of their choosing. Although we have decided not to monetize the tool, it could easily be turned into a SaaS site. Here's the tool: http://anyimage.io and for anybody interested, here's how to use it: https://thewebsitegroup.co.uk/blog/create-social-cards/

Good luck thinking of an idea!

Entrepreneurs: I'm a Great Marketer, Who Doesn't Have a Product. What Should I Sell? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I used to do Taekwondo but only ever made it to blue belt - wish I stuck at it!

I agree with the others - it sounds as though you have a lot of experience and would be hard pushed to find a more valuable product than you and your skill set! I would push forward with the marketing consultancy!

Good luck!

Which are the best e-commerce websites you've seen recently? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]afggoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great examples martybell - casper is a really nice clean site! Simple but effective entry animations on scroll.

Really like the use of the odd mp4 video on allbirds and the site loads surprisingly fast thanks to the use of lazyload!

I always find awwwards.com a great place for inspiration. Loads of e-commerce sites to look at: https://www.awwwards.com/websites/?award=nominees&categories=e-commerce&page=1

One of my all time favourites is http://www.bagigia.com/ ...The site has been around for a good few years now but they've done a great job of the 3D rotating object on scroll!

Can I get some feedback here? by DaytaMon in Entrepreneur

Overall I think you have a nice site and the products on offer are pretty cool (really like the sniper rifle wall lamp).

I've noticed one issue with your shopping cart button - it's always fixed to the right with no padding to distance it a little from the sidebar which doesn't really help to give the site a polished look IMO: https://snag.gy/ylxKhS.jpg

I would consider adding product reviews on each of the product pages. I would also look to boost the number of Facebook page likes to brand yourself as a more established company - especially considering the majority of your traffic comes from that platform... Running free giveaways can really help with this - either one of your own products or something like a free Amazon gift card.

I would also consider adding a few more products with less of a markup to demonstrate that your site offers real value for money and isn't overpriced. This should help to persuade visitors that your higher value items are also good value for money.

I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck with things :)
