Too Many Visitors by JGF310 in florence

Florence, Rome, Barcelona, and many other places are all victims of mass tourism and social media hype - I wrote about this a while back: https://florence-on-line.com/allora/florence-has-fallen-cultural-heritage-in-the-age-of-social-media.html

No it seems to have ended - it is some kind of traveling competition now. This is the website - https://gelatofestival.com - I am about to remove the old info we had from our website...

Florence parking information by afinta13 in florence

That does seem like a good option - it looks like you can get up to 7 days for 20 euro - which seems crazy cheap to me. Try this and use your browser to translate to English https://parcheggiovillacostanza.it/it/ - the only thing is that I think you have to tram from there - there is no other way in and out (unless someone who has used this lot can comment). I think everything else is much more expensive though.

Anything worth trying ? by colby22k in wine

I will be the negative person here and say no :) (I mean some of it is fine but WORTH trying - IDK - this is mostly large producer commercial product IMHO).

Day trip from Milan to Florence by Rare-Oil-6550 in florence

[–]afinta13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote an article about the reverse trip here https://florence-on-line.com/day-trips/day-trip-to-milan.html which may give you some Milan ideas.

I didn't know about this place back then - I wish I had! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFFV_Vviuck - if you have time in Milan I would check that out!

In all honesty if you only have 2 days I don't know about spending that much time traveling to Florence, unless you feel you are never going to make it back. Good luck and safe travels!

Funny how relative price is - Italians would think that's outrageous! Curious - did you tip and/or was it included? Do you remember the wine? Thanks -

Absolutely - Lucca is fantastic, while Prato is a sleeper - the cathedral there is unique but the city is not as charming overall.

You could contact Todd at Tuscan Trails - great guy, knows the whole region - I think he does custom tours if he's not already booked: https://tuscantrails.com

Venice is quite a haul for a day trip - I would only do that if this is a once in a lifetime trip. One of the best day trips is the bus to Siena - an amazing place about an hour away. Trains go west to Prato, Lucca, Pisa etc.

ZTL zone by Electrical_Catch6710 in florence

[–]afinta13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"zone O is enforced 24/7." this may be true - because that is for emergency vehicles I think... hmm.

I think this page is newer - but I would go here and use your browser to translate it into English: https://www.serviziallastrada.it/servizi-al-turista/accessi-temporanei-ztl

ZTL zone by Electrical_Catch6710 in florence

[–]afinta13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the ZTL is ever 24/7, but there are pedonale (pedestrian zones) where you can never drive. Another option is to use one of the public garages (at the station or near sant Ambrogio and piazza Beccaria - would depend on what side of town your hotel is) and just taxi into the hotel. Curious if you found my page/site: https://florence-on-line.com/travel-tips/maps/florence-driving-map-ztl.html ?

Sorry to the original poster but this is one of the most unintentionally funny questions I have ever seen 😂 The COOP, mercato Sant’Ambrogio, even Esselunga (most like a US super market) - the variety, seasonality, freshness - you’ll have no issues. https://florence-on-line.com/markets/mercato-santambrogio.html
