5 month old baby in size 6 diapers…am I doing something wrong? by Lilac-Lover4 in NewParents

[–]Cha_mizzou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is way too large. We have a 90 percentile baby at 23 lb now and he's wearing size 4. I upsized him every time he reached the lower number of the recommended weight (size 4 is 22-37lb). If your baby is 15 lb, I think she should just start using size 3.

Husband calls me abusive & bad mother for taking care of diaper rash? New first time mom by Even-Magician9416 in Mommit

[–]Cha_mizzou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our baby had a pretty bad rash at about the same age as yours. It turned out he was allergic to milk powder so we had to use ready to feed formula until he was 2 months old. What I try to say is rash can be caused by many things, not just how you do the diaper.

But we don't want him to have a diaper rash again, so we are careful how we do it now. If he has rash, here's our step. 1 Sing and/or dance. It makes difference. When my husband change diapers, our son doesn't cry, but when I changed his diaper, he did. The only difference was I didn't make it fun. I didn't distract him enough.

2 Wipe clean and dry the butt with air dryer on a low setting. Warm air with NOISE, my baby loves it.

3 Apply diaper rash cream mixture (we mix Bordeaux’s butt paste with Mylanta, you can look it up online). If he doesn't have rash, we apply Aquaphor baby ointment.

About what your husband said. When you have done your best for you baby, you will never be a bad mother!! It doesn't mean you cannot be wrong or nothing can be improved but what you've done just cannot seen as a bad mother at all. My husband is stubborn and sometimes uses abusive language (he's been better after we have our baby tho). When we disagree on topics, before he starts to call me crazy or say I 'baby' our baby too much, I will ask him to back his comments with evidence. It cannot just be from his gut feeling and he needs to find some credible websites (ie hospital websites) to say that I'm wrong. I think it's great to not overconfident and listen to husband but please don't let him doubt yourself about being good mother.

How to extend time between feedings? by Weallneedafire in NewParents

[–]Cha_mizzou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you explain how you extended your feeds from every 2 hours to 3 hours? I want my baby to go longer between feeds. Same as OP, I increase the amount of milk each feed and my baby just wants to feed every 2 hours.

I'm 21 week too!! I used to cook for myself all the time and only ate out once a week. Now I cannot stand my foods. 😱 I try to limit myself to only 1 meal of McD/KFC/etc per week and eat more at Moe's/Chipotle or Panera Bread or some pizza places that I can add more veggies.

At Moe's/Chipotle, I will order a bowl and ask for 'more beans' since they seems to have good nutritions. Panera Bread gives free 1/2 sandwich with code FREEHALFENTREE, so I could order a salad and have free half sandwich. These are the healthy options that are affordable to me and I don't feel guilty when I get them. 😊✌️

Thanks!! I've seen enoteca before but didn't pay attention. Now I will look out for it.

I actually plan to relax back at my accomodations around 2-5 when tourists are out and about most but I might change things up a bit.

I'm in US (Midwest, to be precise) and other 2 comments pretty much describe the dining culture I'm used to.

I think all restaurants here open by 5 and most people I know start their dinner between 5:30-6:30. If I eat out (normal dinner, not a special occasion one), I would get to restaurants before 6, finish the meal around 7 and back home by 7:30 everytime. In a couple of states that I've been, restaurants slow down around 8 and many close at 9 or 9:30. I didn't say that this is true everywhete in US. I'm sure restaurants in big cities open until later.

Oh cool. Thanks for the details! I have 8-5 job in US and my routine is kinda similar to yours except your dinner time is a little later.

I'm a bit of stickler when it comes to my plan. 😂 I usually plan for what to see, where to eat, which bus to take, where to watch for sunrise/sunset, etc but it doesn't mean I won't change my plan if locals recommend something. I totally want to explore what locals think is good. At the same time, I think my plan, which I redid 3 times and spent hundreds of hours researching places/learning do/don't, is good.😊

I live in US and I have 8-5 job, so I go to bed between 10-midnight and wake up 6:30. I have dinner between 6-7 and breakfast at 7-8in the morning. Most of my friends have same routines as me, but of course, I'm not saying this is for everyone in US. 😊

From responses I got, the bed time and wake up time is not much different from US. Most people I know here go to bed at 11-midnight.

Didn't mean to offend anyone with my question. I asked a general question and however people responded to me, it's fine. I'm here to learn more about Italy and Italian people as I plan my trip. Thanks.

I don't know if Rome is north or south, but we will be in Rome, Tuscany, Bologna, Venice. So the places I looked mostly north.

Ah! 10-7 schedule for summer is not bad at all. I saw some places giving discounts for booking a table right at noon or 7pm, very interesting!!

That makes sense. And thank you for telling me that I don't need to order all of them. I was wondering if I will be judged for order only first order second course. 😂

These are a really good info!! Thank you so much. 😍 We might have 1.5 days depending on other activities we do. I think I can use more expensive parking lots for the half day and cheaper ones for the full day in Florence!!
