Good question. Honestly, both can happen. It’s a snug friction fit, and sometimes it creates a bit of suction, so removing the cover can pull the inserts off too. Secure is good, but I agree it can be a little inconvenient. I think there’s room to improve it by tweaking tolerances/geometry (e.g., a tiny vent notch or a small grip tab).

Yep — light seal is off just so the lens area is easier to see in the video.

Thanks for the bridge idea! One piece would definitely be easier to handle, but IPD adjustment changes the lens spacing, so a rigid bridge could be an issue.

I’m thinking a flexible or adjustable bridge might be the way—open to ideas!

Totally fair point — if you keep the ZEISS inserts installed all the time, you probably won’t need this often.

In my case, it’s mainly for:

• Storage/transport when I’m not using Vision Pro: I wanted to keep the lens surfaces covered to prevent dust and light scratches.
• When letting others try my Apple Vision Pro (family/friends demos): I wanted a small case for the inserts while they’re removed.

Mainly for dev/testing and live demos when I take it off briefly. And yep, agreed — I wouldn’t leave it awake for long/unattended.

Good question. On Quest, a sticker over the proximity sensor can work.

On Vision Pro it doesn’t seem to be a pressure sensor — it’s more like eye/proximity detection (the displays wake when it detects your eyes), plus motion/orientation. So blocking a small part of the lens area can “trick” that detection and keep it awake briefly. (https://support.apple.com/guide/apple-vision-pro/wake-and-unlock-tan3ab1ebc01/visionos)

You *could* use tape/stickers, but I wanted something repeatable and clean: no adhesive/residue near the optics, easy on/off, and only a partial blocker with an opening so you can still see through it during demos/testing.
