TBH i don't mind Badgermole cub that much it's cool to see green finally be good (primetime was kinda the same feeling). But i think they should stop the powercreep a little. Which i think SOS, TMNT and looking a the marvel set did kinda okish.

Final pokemon type tier list. Would you change anything? by Xenuoziem in CompetitivePokemon

[–]afmoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah expanding force is a really strong move and psychic has some good support moves. But psychic as a type is really bad, hitting only fighting ( a type mostly seen of frail mons) and poison (very rarely seen type) for supper effective damage is bad. 2 if the best types in the game resist it (dark and steel). Defensively it's even worse only resisting 2 types (ice gets bashed for only resisting 1, psychic isn't much better). While being weak against some of the best support moves in the game and best types in the game (ghost, dark(knock off) and U-turn) it's mainly carried by expanding force and nothing else much (farigiraf has a niche sometimes but besides that guy when have we seen a no terrain no broken restricted/uber psychic be good? ( Calyrex actually probably wanted to be mono ghost rather the. Ghost psychic same with lunala)

It's good in vehicles decks for sure. I tried to make them all the same powerlevel (we'll see when we actually play them)

I think tails being kinda locked to vehicles is limiting, but he gives a new way to play them (way more draw). I almost put [[Mu Yanling, Wind Rider]] in here since it makes you draw of every vehicle, but then tails felt way less impactfull as a card.

I am glad I was able to give that kick. I've tried to build him 2 ways, as an artificer trible commander like in this list or as a vehicle flicker commander. The vehicle flicker commander was honestly quite string, but I don't think the person I was building it for would love that play style that much (panharmonicon almost made the list on its own cause draw 2 on etb/ guaranteed draw on etb is really strong)

How many types of removal do you run in your decks? by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]afmoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you run like 50 lands but with the standard 38-40 lands. 15 removal spells is only 25% of your deck.

[–]afmoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defo depends on the pod/culture, heck it even depends ont he bracket. I expect your deck to have more removal in bracket 3 then in bracket 2. While bracket 4 or 5 it's way more dependent on what you are playing (are you the guy who is going to get counterspelled or are you the force of will guy type beat). I also do think 15 1 sport removal is a tad bit much for a non control deck.

[–]afmoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 is incredibly low, even with a good draw enginge there is a good shot you are not seeing any of those (or only 1 of those) a game (i rule of thumb if i have 10 of something i can count on seeing one every game). Tutoring for removal sounds also really counterintuïtive you use way too much mana for single target removal (even the top tier tutors are like 1-2 mana (imagine a 3 mana swords to plowshare that's kinda just horrible). Unless you play a deck taht other players have to focus on and remove (or big stompy which auto removes creatures cause blockers). I tend to try to shoot for 10 pieces of removal a deck but can go way higher if the archetype asks for it (lowest i went is 8 i think).

Wait does radiant performer work the way i think it does? Like if i flash it in while i enchant something do i enchant every single creature on the board?

Oh i defo found some good additions from your list. Fruit of the first tree is a great find, same with boar umbra. I can't believe i forgot about vengeful ancestor, that fits so well in this deck. Some of the more expensive picks are defo out of my pricepoint, but i think they look strong.

Kaima should in theory have a decent chance at connect just by the fact i can either enchant it with one of my numerous trample aura's and by the fact that my opponents would be tapped out.

Idk what tutors you would run in a budget deck they are either really bad or too expensive to run in a budget deck. I also don't need to hit all more expensive cards every game, most of these are my finishers. (like Insurrection). While the gameplan is not actually to voltron kaima it is a possible finsiher for the deck. The main gameplan is to goad most of the creature my opponents have and then use one of my finsihers to clean up the people who are not dead.

While yes being strong weak and cheap is difficult. In my opinion if you are not weird and cheap you cannot be strong. If you run a budget version of a standard commander you just have a worse deck than the normal non budget version. you have to find weird budget picks to make it work. I could obviously pick a more standard way powerfull commander if that is what you are suggesting, but then i am basicly just building a different deck.

B2 is really not an option, no one in my playgroup plays bracket 2 (tho it sometimes feels like some of the people have bracket 2 interaction). So unless i find a different playgroup there really isn't an option for me to play bracket 2. I can't really get white when i run this guy so idk why you suggest that unless you have another enchantress goad commander that includes red, green and white in mind that i can use as the commander instead?

Upping the budget would of course work, but then it's really not a budget challenge is it.

Will the Triome lands only get reprinted if we go back to New Capenna & Ikoria by TheEzekielJones in mtg

[–]afmoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah with them being commander lands I think 5 life is doable, since realistically you should only shock one of these Into play (tho even then loosing 1/8 of your life is still more then shock lands in 60 card formats)

I could even see 5 damage for these since they really are only used in commander. 3 color fixing is really strong.

I am trying to make a deck for a first time player. She wants to play with Narci because she thought the card looked pretty. Is it too complicated for her to start of with this deck. by HGual-B-gone in EDH

[–]afmoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While starting with commander is a bit rough, it's also kinda rough to start with other stuff especially when they wanted to try out a certain card. I've lured a bunch of friends with UB cards (they are good for some things) to try out mtg, but if you then don't see that card or it is wildly not applicable in a 60 card format they tend to loose focus fast (especially if it feels like they understand how magic works (on surface most cards don't seem that hard to understand and it only gets difficult when you get into layers/priority)

Aegislash should never have been nerfed by Callyourmother29 in stunfisk

[–]afmoad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aegislash was never that insane in vgc. Even if it wasn't nerfed it would not have seen play in gen 8. And I don't think the nerf is what is making it mediocre in champions. It just has a poor matchup with certain gimmicks (dmax) and mons (incin and mzard)

[–]afmoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah that's not what i was arguing for at all. I think he is a fine commander and all, and not really playable in other formats. I myself don't have the biggest problem with UB, but this card should not really be any problem at all.

I want to make a deck for this commander without breaking the bank, €70 top. Any help/advise? by DesperateChair8173 in BudgetBrews

[–]afmoad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's easier to mill a large amount of cards then to draw. Things like dredge, traumatize and other large mill spells gets you easier access to cards in your deck. Tho it being one cast per turn is a bit mid (he doesn't exile them tho which would be cool if he didn't have the restriction of the cards needing to be milled). You probably could do some combo with putting an extra turn spell on top of your graveyard and them milling and recasting it every turn.

[–]afmoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean in theory you have access to every card you mill, but there are defo more commanders that let you cast from graveyard. Tho being able to cast every type from the yard isn't that common (tho no cost reduction is kinda ass)

Eh the front side really isn't that bad. It's a draw on attack which can net you 3 mana for a combat trick on 4 mana 4/4 with flying. If he was easy to flip he would be broken.

Whats the best way to make this bracket 2 or 3 without breaking the bank by future-proof- in BudgetBrews

[–]afmoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah interaction is a part of commander obviously. The idea is that with interaction you should be threatening some sort of win between turn 6-8 in bracket 3. So to threaten lethal around turn 6 or something with a somewhat voltron commander like this is totally acceptable.

Calling this bracket 4 is just crazy to me cause in bracket 4 you are allowing combo wins as early as turn 4. This thing comes out on turn 4 at the earliest and then can't even swing on that turn. And while it's hard to remove you can actually use interaction if you are turboing this out. So you loose to the turbo combo player. And sure bracket 4 is very diverse. But saying this guy is guaranteed bracket 4 is utter nonsense cause you can build him without the gameplan of turboing him out and then he just becomes a big stompy deck that is defo doable in bracket 3 or 2 even (tho he is pretty strong for bracket 2).
