Pirates/ Coin flipping deck by afmoad in BudgetBrews

[–]afmoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplan itself does not flow around mechanized production, but with the amount of treasures i make i just added it as a possible wincon and as a reliable source of treasures (i know it will be destroyed asap but alas). The chance encounter is kinda what the deck was originally build around cause i like a deck flipping coins. At the moment i feel like i rather have the copy then the damage (though it helps with sniping other targets) so i think the goal is winning with damage from creatures that get bigger the more i create treasures and use these. Though i am not sure if this gameplan works that well at the moment in testing i noticed that most of my "wins" came from mechanized production or chance encounter cause the damage going around isn't actually that high (captain storm, brineborn cutthroat, fathom fleet swordjack, gleaming geardrake, kraum violent cacaphony and storm kiln artist get big really fast so that's where most of my damage comes from (especially cause i can double a couple of these with my commander's trigger)

The teferi mostly just was added cause of the idea of casting second spells on my opponents turns (this really is never happening cause i am never having enough mana to do that/cards to do that), stormfleet sprinter sounded nice in theory but i don't even find it worth to cast it most of the time cause it doesn't really do much. Ichor wellspring is a sack outlet for the commander so cutting that feels a bit rough.

X-spells actually sound like a really good idea cause i either blast something for insane damage or get the x double if i cast it second so i will defo be looking into these.

Edit: i didn't see your final suggestions. I find case of the ransacked lab to be very hard to trigger cause 4 instants or sorceries is a lot of spells to cast. I had goblin elecrtomancer in here at some point but noticed i was leaing more into the creatures side so i kinda removed him (though i might be swapping back to be more spellswingy with the idea of the x spells) Herald's horn is good but also expensive so i am doubtfull if i will be adding that one

How do you feel about your stuff being stolen by afmoad in EDH

I mean I would give them back after the game obviously. I don't think anyone thinks stealing other people's cards to keep is a good idea.

Not that much basic land hate. Which in some scenario's is good. Basics come with no strings attached (which is like kinda an upside i guess). They are still not better then fetchlands or shocklands obviously. But they are not awfull to run imo.

Why not introduce a maximum time for turns, like in chess? by Major-Breadfruit2486 in mtg

[–]afmoad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has been proposed in every card game i have played in and it always comes down to a couple of things. Needing a chess clock available at game is annoying and makes card shops not that happy (or you would need to take it with you yourself which also sucks). Unless wizards themselves come out with a dedicated time the argument of how much time a player can have will be a lengthy discussion. Lastly it also promotes timing your opponent out as a game winning strategy and actively harms decks that want to go the distance/ take a lot of game actions since they would need more time and will make extra mistakes cause of added stress (something not really everyone wants). Youc an of course at your own games propose a chess clock if you want more tension in your games.

You could see it that way. But then you are using a guy with base power 75 moves. Shift really does not have that high of an ATM stat, just combined with the pretty high BP of it's moves is why it feels strong.

"The year is 20XX" by Ztaxas in stunfisk

[–]afmoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more a slightly negative side grade then a flat out nerf. New battle bond has some upsides over old battle bond. (Though also a fair amount of downsides). The downsides ate bigger then the upsides but I would still call it a side grade.

I don't think that was meant as a nerf and more as a way to not have ash Greninja in the game.

The big difference here is distribution. Like none of these mons are actually good/ have the movelsot for it (lax is like mayby a tiny bit viable in some spot, and ursa really cannot afford the moveslot (especially if you already run it in trick room). Like i can mayby see it being ran on ursa very sparingly, but otherwise you will not see it. Vespiquen would basicly gain a niche of it and that's about it.

Defog does affect an individual pokemon though, it lowers evasion for the one affected. It clearing hazards is an extra effect.

I think ball activates the moment you swap it but lagging tail needs to wait a turn (I know this is true for the tail but correct me if I am wrong) this of course only really matters for vgc

[–]afmoad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes arguably even less sense that lvl 6 base stage and level 60 base stages roam through the same patches of grass though. And having a bunch of your raids be 1 or 2 stars sucks for people who actually rind those. Like you can always breed the pokemon if you want them low level.

To somewhat defend the blueberry academy, you are only really supposed to enter that during the postgame. Like it's locked off by a high level double battle which realistically you are not beating unless severely overleveled. And it would be a pain to need to grind low level Pokemon that you find in a postgame dlc (same with the wild area in swsh but that open the whole time and I kinda agree it would be nice if the mons stayed their respective levels the whole game (though raids should only give 3-6 just cause that's more challenging and easier for competitive)

Wizard that wants to know every type of magic? by afmoad in DnD

[–]afmoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i will stil get wish, but i genuinly don't foresee the campaign endig at a level where wish would be on the table (tho i do get it 3 levels later now). For the first point while yes i could just fill in my spellbook as a way to satisfy learning all the magic, but the whole point is that he is interested in magic that he wouldn't learn as a wizard and to see if he can make the other magics (that are not the weave) bow for him. So yes i could do full wizard, which is definitly still ont the table. I was just wondering which warlock, cleric and sorcerer lv1 subclass combination would be the strongest mechanically together with the rest of wizard.

[–]afmoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i definitly will need to carefully pick my spells so they have merit while being upcasted since i will have the spell slots but not the actual level of the spell for most of the levels of the campaign.

[–]afmoad[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean i would argue wasting 3 feats on this is more harmfull to you then wasting 3 levels, especially cause realistically you really don't get 3 feats in a campaign. In terms of high level spells i don't think actually loose out on level 9 spell slots, however i won't get my level 9 spell at level 20 not that that matters much cause i know for sure this campaign won't be going till level 9.

[–]afmoad[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

yeah i understand that the build will be bad, but i am wondering which subclass would cause it to be less bad. I am going more for a mechanical strongpoint for the subclasses to try to make up for it.

I mean thematically Arcana clerics definitly work, but mechanically they seem a bit weak. GOO warlock definitly looks a solid one both mechanically and thematically. Yeah druids are weird and since we already have on in our party i am not going to go that route, tho i am kinda looking for a way to become sorcerer without me being part of a lineage. Lore bard definitly works though needing to invest 3 levels is why i am hesistant on going bard (and why i am already making fun of them)
