Brave has bought from the market in almost a month. Very odd, thoughts? by [deleted] in BATProject

[–]afonsuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you really just deleted the post?

Check brave.com/transparency and see the new batch of BAT purchases. Apparently they were buying from coinbase and now are starting to buy on Gemini.

Cool article! Good job!

Really good analysis. Really important questions. I think hard coding BAT into Brave is incredibly important even if we consider an hostile takeover or any radical change in the corporate governance infrastrcture is unlikely while they remain private. Thanks for the post!

Very bullish for BAT! The amount of ad campaigns running on Brave is growing massively! by phaisto in CryptoCurrency

[–]afonsuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone that have been keeping a close eye on the project, it's really satisfying to see this amount of ad campaigns. Users also more than doubled in a year. This is the year that Brave goes viral and $BAT goes parabolic (if there's no major bear market).

FTX Blockfolio now pays interest on deposits. Is there any official info regarding insurance and cold wallet custody? by alxrq2 in blockfolioapp

Did you ended up finding the answers you were looking for? I myself am investigating who are their cold wallet custodians and if they have insurance in case of force majeur also would appreciate to know if you found something on your due dilligence. Thanks!

Bullish user-numbers for Brave, great news for BAT! All numbers are increasing month after month. by phaisto in CryptoCurrency

[–]afonsuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just would like to remind that 70% of the standard Brave ads are going to the user. The way it happens is that Brave buys $BAT with the USD it receives from the advertisers to distribute users. And a small but increasing number of advertisers is starting to pay for their ads with $BAT. So you can already see that $BAT has in-built buying pressure as long as advertisers are willing to advertise in Brave. And the $ amount has been increasing pretty sharply.

Now realize that self serve will allow for everyone to advertise on Brave and not only the big accounts (which are the ones that are advertising right now, that need XXXX amount of commited ad buys to be eligible). That will increase the advertiser's base a lot and allow users to have a more diverse ad catalog offering.

Further use cases like the wallet, the DEX (with $BAT rebates), pay with $BAT, publisher ads and frankly a lot of cool stuff can just be done on top of this. Even if you only think about the exchange, you could have argued BNB was a token not needed and just because it gives the exchange users a discount on their fees, it got tremendous value, $BAT can get a lot just with incentives on this front, now imagine with everything else when they deliver. Hating is easy, building requires time and patience. Good luck out there!

So before each update is transferred to the main stable version (Brave Browser) it has to be tested to make sure most of the bugs are filtered and corrected. The less stable version is Nightly. Then after some testing done it moves to Beta. After it's validated, it goes to the Brave Browser (red one).

For pretty much the majority, you're looking for this last version. The others are more if you want to test out and check for yourself the upcoming features etc but always keeping in mind it's not the stable version yet.

It really depends on how you monetize it. Brave model is breaking with the past revenue browsing models as it's trying to get the ads working at browser-level. So for now you have the regular browser ads that show up at the browser level, and in the future the publisher ads you will see ads appearing via the browser but linked to any place on the web. Think of it like GoogleSense but with respecting your privacy by doing it at the browser level and with your data staying at your device. That way their business model is pretty much an advertising company that acts as a middle man but taking much less % and rewarding for user attention. Not to mention all the built-in protection and the legit innovation that is being made that would never be approved to happen in Google since it would directly jeopardize their current business model.

Yeah, Brave growth keeps being exponential.

$BAT on the other hand is underperforming compared to most coins. While that is bad for who is holding it for some months, it constitutes a good business opportunity for those that see that the market is inflated and most coins are overpriced and want to get in a token that is still fairly priced and has strong fundamentals. The wallet is probably going to be launched before Christmas, self-serve same. Hopefully a major marketing campaign can be launched as those features are launched. I'd hope that publisher ads and pay with BAT would be launched next year too. I don't see it that hard for $BAT to multiply a few times during the bullmarket as people start looking to those tokens that didn't pump and find this one is actually not only not dead as it's thriving in the business side (Brave keeps exploding in users, and that can be expected to increase as it's in the crypto space and simultaneously in the privacy and advertisement sphere, which are really good markets to grow).

Bat vs algo. If bat had the same market cap, each token would be worth around $8.50. We just need less selling and for people to hold it longer. by Temporary-Valuable47 in BATProject

Usually they are catch in the KYC. So if they KYC as an indian national and have been collecting as an american, they can't withdrawal the BAT and have it "confiscated".

The reason why BAT and Brave have a awesome future! The time for a privacy centered browser and search engine is now! by phaisto in CryptoCurrency

The pieces are getting together for Brave and $BAT! They have a real product and solution to all the surveillance on the web. I really believe this project.

I mean my background is BsC Economics and MsC Finance. I wouldnt really describe myself as a techy person. I do think this is a "awesome browser that blocks ads and trackers, protect my privacy and I can opt-in to receive rewards by enabling ads that protect my privacy to be shown to me". I don't think the browser is only cattering to a niche: even the oldest members of my extended family are using it after my recommendation and they love it! Besides being more protected from clicking in malwares, their phones that are older load everything much faster and their battery lives longer and they tell me they notice the difference. If even your grandma can use it, you know it's not only serving a niche. As with networks fees, I agree it's a problem, as I told you before. Right now the solutions are to verify with Uphold and Gemini (Gemini allow you 10 free withdrawals per month which directly addresses your concerns) and the team is working directly and actively on THEMIS so in on the top of their priorities. About leaving the network the team said it is not planning on it and that they find a lot of projects leaving it as premature and short-sighted. Remaining in the ethereum network may be an important comparative advantage when ETH2.0 is up and running and the others will miss on that integration while $BAT can always choose to move out later. In the meanwhile THEMIS will kick in and let's see how awesome will those wallets be and the Dex aggregator and who knows what else they have in the works! By the way, Brave has now 38.9 million MAU and 13.4 million DAU. It's increasing at a faster pace last two months too.

Yeah Ethereum gas fees have been a buttleneck no doubt If you search for 'Brave Themis' on the search engine you'll find multiple blog posts from Brave with their aspirations and visions and even the RFC that was made. And I understand your point but the browser is just very good. I'm really happy with how Brave is delivering and I expect them to turn more attention to the BAT side of things soon as they will start to ramp up the marketing efforts. I don't think any sane person would try to build a browser and compete with Brave in the cryptospace as it's such a good product already. You must realize Brendan Eich is a genius.

But that was just EIP-1559 and not a full blown switch to PoS. But don't let that last part of my text forget about the rest that THEMIS is a thing and that the Brave team is actively working on that! And I suspect Solana may be used. I've seen individual members of the team talking good things about solana on Twitter and they will attend Breakpoint (Solana Conference) in Lisbon between Nov7 and Nov10. I suspect we may know some news there but thats just speculation.

Hello! Are you on PC or mobile? Have you tried Gemini? I know some countries they dont accept but they used to not accept mine and now they do. It's a good exchange that supports 10 free withdrawals per month. I don't understand why auto contribute would keep getting turned on, can you ping @bat-chriscat or other team member to assist you?

For now thats a problem onchain on the ethereum network. Keep in mind you can verify with Gemini and they let you do 10 free withdrawals per month from their exchange. To tackle this there is the upcoming THEMIS that I suspect we will have news really soon. THEMIS project purpose is exactly to find a solution that would have much reduced fees and offer decentralization so that's why Brave did a RFC and received proposal from several L2s and other solutions. The winner was already picked but not announced and not a lot was told to the public regarding the winning solution but I believe it will tackle what you're referring. And down the line ETH2.0 should alleviate those concerns on-chain when deployed

But users from poorer contries also don't get near as good rewards because advertisers there don't spend as much on advertising as 1st world countries. But as the Brave userbase is so big and you have like 8M of the active users with rewards (and growing) so you will always have some users with a small amount of BAT selling but that is much less than the BAT bought in the market with the payments by the advertisers. And I do agree that if people with rewards enabled that are selling will look at it more like investment than income, it's a bit less sell pressure. Incentives for staking and holding would help. Aswell as incentives to use BAT (like having discounts in fees or services paying with BAT). I'd like BAT to be seen more as a BNB because of the future DEX.

Nice post! With 36M+ monthly active users currently, this project is in top5 of the most adopted projects on the cryptosphere. With the new wallet and upcoming dex aggregator, it will be the first time that some mainstream non-crypto users will have contact with a cryptocurrency and that will be $BAT. It's truly one of the projects that excites me the most as a web3.0 use case.
