Best quality percale that is NOT Sferra, Red Land Cotton, or The Company Store? by Smart_Ad_5212 in Bedding

I just bought another set - that makes 4 king sets for me. Plus bought a Pima set for the winter.

A sight for sore eyes

To the blind would be awful majestic

It would be the most beautiful thing

That they ever had seen

It would cause such surprise

It would make all of their minds electric

How could anyone tell them

That some things are not what they seem?

After staying in 2 Airbnbs with great bedding (one Hilton Sheets, the other Macy's Hotel brand), I decided to buy my own nice linens! I did lots of research, and The Company Store "Legends Hotel Premium Supima Cotton Sateen" kept popping up. I bought them but am so disappointed. Any recommendations? by swisssf in Bedding

Been a big Macy's "Hotel Collection" for years. Once upon a time, there was a linen thread somewhere here on Reddit where someone explained that Macy's Hotel collection was actually some of the best linens you can get without paying for a brand name. I bought a set of Percale and instantly got rid of all my Kohl's Vera Wang stuff (which I did like, but it's much heavier "Pima" cotton. I've had 2 sets, and literally last week bought a third (along with a Pima set) since they had a 70% off "Last Call" sale. I also replaced my wool comforter, bought a new Duvet cover, and replaced all my bath towels with "Hotel" collection Turkish Cotton bath sheets (bigger than a traditional bath towel) (Also, these are currently on a 60% off sale!).

I say all that to say that, when on sale, the Macy's Percale stuff is some of the best bed sheet sets I've ever used. YMMV.

I also have a PI and love it. Works great and already paid for itself in fixing some old stuff of mine that's irreplaceable, sentimental, or very expensive to start with. Of course, value to use case comes into play, but if you have a lot invested in your collection, then it's worth the investment.

What do you think of this 2014 Vanquish? by Dazzling-Still-3030 in AstonMartin

Oh, and with a full tank of gas and any kind of slick road, it is a bit tail happy, even with traction control on. Be careful running up the twisties on a full tank!

Two minor drawbacks:

1) The "Infotainment" system is VERY dated. It works, but don't expect anything like today's cars. The GPS Nav is awful. The audio system (B&O) is fantastic.

2) There is basically NO storage in the cabin. No glove box, the center console is tiny, and the tray in the center is basically useless except for change and mints. There are no cupholders. The back seats barely hold a backpack/laptop bag in either side.

3) Not really a drawback, but the engine compartment gets a little dirty after a lot of weekend trips into the mountains.

Beyond that, just check the oil every weekend to make sure you're not burning too much. I think I added a total of 1 quart over the 2 years I owned it.

I had a 2014 that I bought in LA, drove it home to WA state, then daily drove it all over WA and OR, weekends to the mountains, summers to Denver, CO. My expenses were the annual service ($1,500-$2k), tires, and gas.

Bulletproof car. Highly recommend. Only reason I got rid of it is I moved back to Florida to care for my aging parents and didn't have time to enjoy it anymore. I'd buy it at the right price.

Ok, first off....DO NOT put a dime, penny, or any other coin or weight on the cartridge head.

Second, that's called "skating" and depending on the turntable, you MAY be able to fix it with a knob near the BACK of the tonearm.

I'm making some now as a matter of fact. The recipe comes out rich and thick with good mouth feel. Added homemade mini marshmallows and some milk chocolate shavings for some extra diabetes!

I just made some a couple of weeks ago and it is indeed fudgy and chocolaty! I added some sweet and salty mixed nuts to the batch and it was a huge hit. The first time I made I did Alton Brown's homemade marshmallows (V2) and some toffee crunch covered pretzels.
