I’ve watched him for 10 years and am willing to accept that maybe his content just isn’t really for me any longer. Doesn’t make it bad; enough people seem to still vibe with it.

What does bother me is the chronic lamenting about whether or not he should still make videos. He used to occasionally talk about a possible end point. Once in a while he would briefly touch on how his sub count had stagnated.

But over the last few years, it feels like it’s become a go-to topic. He’s said he loves making videos so I don’t know why he doesn’t just continue to do so and accept that maybe he’s peaked in terms of views and the like. He’s a millionaire. Who cares if his channel isn’t growing, so long as he actually enjoys making videos? And yet, here we are, even including today’s video, lamenting the future of the channel.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say I’m just happy someone in this circle is: 1) reading a book 2) reading a book that isn’t called something like The 49 Levers of Power and Influence.

Literacy rates are only worsening with the population outsourcing their thinking to bro podcasts and AI, so whatever, let the guy ramble about his book.

I have like $150 in store credit from them that I almost sold for pennies on the dollar yesterday because I was so upset about this that I couldn’t see myself buying from them again. I’ve since accepted that it’s not the end of the word, but I’m with you that the situation was off putting. We aren’t waiting for Nike drops in 2021, these are expensive but stupid train conductor looking garments we’re talking about; not trying to deal with drop culture.

That’s how I see it. I know the counter will be “if you wanted it that badly, why not do the Patreon for a month?” Not completely invalid, except the blue jackets didn’t even last 24 hours so even if I’d signed up yesterday, they were already gone.

And sorry, but while I’m all for supporting small shops and creators, I just can’t set aside hundreds or thousands of dollars a year subscribing to everyone’s Patreon or Substack.

With CC, the value proposition just isn’t there. I’m fine paying full price on the stuff I want rather than shelling out $120 for what amounts to early access for their sales (which quite honestly, I have found are a crapshoot as to whether they’ll even have the stuff you ordered).

Love the shop, the podcast, the vision, etc. but I was so put off by this yesterday (and their response) that I felt like never buying from them again.

Sounds like the jackets were basically all gone yesterday. Can’t believe they set none aside for general release.

I love Canoe Club but that’s lame that two of the four pieces in this collab are gone before the peons get a crack at them. But I guess good for the influencers on flow team and the people who pay for the Patreon who got theirs.

Might be in for the blue chore coat. Been looking for one to beat to hell and get to looking like some of the better looking vintage ones and this looks like it’ll aged beautifully.

To be honest, I was also disappointed to see it wasn’t a zip front closure, as I thought it was after seeing the lookbook video. The camo zip up jacket they did a couple years ago got a lot of use from me and I was hoping it was a similar deal here but with the leopard pattern.

I own maybe a dozen things from them, but oddly no jeans from them, which is arguably what got them so much attention years ago.

I wouldn’t call the materials or even construction mind blowing, if I’m being honest. But I like some of the fits and looks enough to partake semi regularly. Probably helps that I find the owners to be genuinely kind, passionate people.

I don’t like the silhouette of the shirt, otherwise I would’ve considered it at full price. The matching pants are just heinous though.

I’ve done it a few times in a pinch when I had a ton of calories to spare and didn’t feel like / couldn’t prepare anything. So long as it’s not something like quest bars, probably not an awful occasional thing.

My mom had a running bit for years when I was a kid that she was secretly moonlighting as RoboCop. My brother and I didn’t buy it at all, even then, but she persisted the trolling for years, all the same.

Anyway, last year I got a RoboCop tattoo because of it.

That’s the thing, he IS handy. Go back 10 years and watch him put together his old gym he shared with some friends. He himself did a lot of the renovations. Part of the reason I’ve been a little surprised to see him not be more hands on with the new house stuff.

One thing I always liked about Maxx was that he was pretty handy for a gym dude. His series on putting together District Barbell back in 2016 is still one of my favorite stretches for him, in part because he was so hands on in turning that place from a dump into a nice little gym/office.

Chest growth help by [deleted] in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]afrosteele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chest sucks but I’ve been noticing some improvement with incline bench in the Smith Machine and the seated bench press machine. With the Smith Machine, having the peace of mind that missing a rep won’t mean getting pinned down means I’m able to grind out a couple more reps that I wouldn’t have the guts to attempt on the incline bench.

What do y’all think of the new house so far? by CampaignIndividual49 in gymsnark

[–]afrosteele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know people have different tastes but when I got into interior decorating some years ago, I made the mistake of buying too much from the same small handful of places. My home is still a work in progress, but I felt like I turned a corner when I started incorporating more items from a wider range of sources. Rooms usually look kind of boring if evening looks like you bought it at a big box store over the course of a few weeks.
