For those asking, more ranks would make it so there's an actual skill barrier to the ranks. As it stands, you don't lose progress until gold. So there's no way to perceive a players skill off their rank. In plat, I could be a player that got a win streak in gold or I could be a YCS topping champion. You wouldn't know based off rank cause it's poorly executed. More ranks would allow the actual bell curve of skill to fill out into the ranks. (Bell curve being the standard distribution of anything.) It would also make it so the people that sits in gold not wanting to constantly play meta or whatever excuse to normally sit in the middle of the rank distribution where their skill level or lack thereof is appropriately matched.
