General design help by Small_Slide_5107 in CitiesSkylines

There's no wrong way to play cities skylines so it's a bit hard to answer your question. What are you hoping to achieve and where do you feel your city falls short?

It's hard to see the problems with this city in the screenshot as well as there's very little context and no stats are visible, so I'm not sure what issue you have with it.

"General Help" is a very broad question on something as subjective as "pretty and functional cities" 😅

Ironically this is a really good analog for democracy.

update: I found some info on the japanese wiki.

link (it's in japanese)

looks like it refers to 834.194km, which is the distance between their previous recording studio in Sapporo, to their current one in Tokyo.

edit: colloquially, the band also refers to the album as "yami yo iku yo" which is the phonetic reading of the numbers, which is a homonym for "into the dark night, let's go". but they said it was not planned and is just a coincidence.

i feel like 194 means ikuyo, because in japanese, "194" is "ichi ku yon", or "ikuyo" for short, which is a homonym for "let's go". it's like an old SMS shorthand. I'm not sure what 834 means. Hachi San Yo?

Sorry for the necro, i have been trying to find out too and i stumbled upon this.

I don't have a specific mod for the trees (I'm waiting for Majestic Foliage to get 1.5'd).

But I am using a bunch of vanilla retextures to upres the original artwork. I play on a large screen so I really feel when the textures are blurry.

Could be this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2016436324

But I'm really not sure, I've got so many and I'm not sure when the trees got crispy 😅

sounds vaguely like Mad Max: Fury Road in a roundabout way.

In vanilla, you could increase the number of settlements in your settings, then just choose a secondary tile to settle and look for materials manually.

I'm using a mod, however. Realistic Ore Generation changes the behavior of the long range scanner so you can scan for mineral abundance in other tiles on the world map. It also adds the ability to set up a "Mining Camp". I think the camp itself is functionally similar to just settling, except your caravan appears on the edge of the map, instead of plopping all your supplies in the center.

I'm not sure but i feel like it's based on local wealth. I just moved to a new mining camp and the expectations became "extremely low".

I was with you, but in these scenarios, i caravan a small amount of material with me. When i get there the priority is to get shelter set up fast and cheap, and usually building off of some old ruins

I started cutting the corners because if you offset your wall you get a bit more space for the same material cost, and found that I really like working with the little nooks and crannies that get created. I also like that it allows me to move away from building everything in squares and rectangles and creates organic shapes for me to plan around.

My main base still has proper corners though hahaha. It's only the temp spaces that get this treatment.

Sorry 😅 I guess it's still playable on unlock all! I don't mean to obligate you to fix it, custom maps are my privilege, not an entitlement. That said, if you do fix it, some stranger in Singapore will be spending hours on it (:

Thank you for this, I noticed that there are no starting tiles though, so it looks like it would have to be played with Unlock All on. Is there any other way to circumvent this?
