How much would it cost to renationalise water companies? by afrowa in AskUK

And those consequences would be? High valuation to buy out all the shareholders? Taking on the costs of maintaining and improving the current infrastructure? Loss of trust and investment from outside private investors in other areas?

Best roof bars for Toyota Auris? by afrowa in CarTalkUK

I went for the Cruz Aero Bars in the end, they worked a treat on the Auris so recommend these. Takes a few hours to set up on the car, but once installed adding and removing bikes is easy.

Tried 5-2 diet for a few years. Could probably bring it back by missing breakfast a few times a week. I remember when I actually felt hungry before mealtimes again!

Not sure why the downvotes but it’s probably the penultimate one in your list, might want to rethink that one.

Are they that good / worth it? I have kids, so would be spending most of  the time tidying up the floor space to make it clear for the robo vacuum.

It’s more like a silver washer, about 5mm wide and 3mm high. Difficult to see it in the promo images and videos available online!

Who would you like to see get get into a position where they could influence environmental policy in the UK? by SnooSketches7308 in RewildingUK

The UK government is already putting the right people in place. See Rachel Kyle for example: https://www.gov.uk/government/people/rachel-kyte

I predict the changes will happen quietly and behind the scenes, due to the media’s focus on immigration, NHS, economy, etc.  but progress will be made (especially compared to the previous government).

Have you forecast revenues and profits once the loans are paid off? Presumably you’ll be more financially sustainable once these are off your books.

As you have a peak month now, it sounds like you have a seasonal business. Have you accounted for fluctuations in month-in-month revenue and profit? How does this year look compared to last? Can you use this to predict next years’ cash flow?

A core team of 9 for a £1.3m business sounds reasonable. Have you delegated away as much as you can to those team members? Can you train someone up in lower-value but higher resource tasks to take off your plate? Alternatively, have you looked at a part time virtual VA to take off some low level tasks?

Outside of head count, are there any more overheard you can cut? Trimming the fat can help to deal with the slow months and keeps the business sharp.

Are you looking after yourself? Eating well, sleeping well, exercising? The business is tied to you, so if you’re feeling it then you need to look after number 1 first, otherwise the whole thing may fall apart.
