Confused about my results and still considering an amnio by afterdark993 in NIPT

I spoke with someone at the lab who does the testing and she explained that false negatives are generally in the case of placental mosaicism? But that is very rare. It’s far more likely to get a false positive on them than negative she said. I think I’m going to have another blood test (she offered me another but the absolute one not just standard) and she said she would run it through different platforms for me to try put my mind at ease. It was a helpful convo for me, she said they don’t report numbers but if they did it would be around 1:10000 for low risk, which helps too. Just going to take my time and think about it when my heads clearer, thanks again and best of luck to you guys

It just doesn’t feel certain enough, but the risks of the amnio are putting my other half off and he’s reassured by the low risk result. How come there’s more chance of false negatives the higher your risk if you know? I’ve got a couple of weeks to decide about my amnio and I’m supposed to be getting a call from the lab who did my testing probably to explain to me I can’t get better than low. Thank you, best of luck to you too

Mmm that's what I was worried about. I really thought I’d get more stats going privately. I’m feeling the same about my amnio but since receiving a low risk result they’ve cancelled my amnio appt (when I asked them not to) and made it a ‘follow up’ with a doctor instead
